IMP Point

IMPs are calculated by comparing the score difference on each board between two partnerships. If the difference is 20 points or more, the partnership earns the corresponding number of IMPs. All IMPs are totaled to get a match score. Victory Points are then derived from the total IMPs based on a 20-point scale, with the points split between the two teams depending on the IMP difference. A larger IMP difference results in more lopsided Victory Point allocation.
