MICROCODE VERSION 50-07-30-00/00

RELEASED 05/14/06

Newly supported features and functions for Version 50-07-30-00/00

1. Mainframe & OPEN System
1-1 UR/URZ without HDD Loaded
Description The external volume of an external storage has been available to be used as a journal volume
of Universal Replicator/ Universal Replicator for ZOS
Changed Part DKCMAIN
Note 1. Required program products:
Universal Volume Manager
Universal Replicator/ True Copy (Sync/Async) or Universal Replicator for ZOS/ True Copy
for ZOS (Sync/Async)
2. Installing expansion SM option 1 is required.
1-2 Write Pending Prevented on UVM Virtual Volume when Link Down
Description With previous version, if Link Down occurs at all the paths between the RAID500 and
external storages, since the data cannot be transferred to the external volumes when write I/Os
are received, the data has to be written into the cache so that the Write Pending data is
accumulated and the cache is in heavily loaded state.
Since this version, a pseudo cache overloaded state is created in this case so that the host I/O
inflow can be limited and the Write Pending data can be prevented from being accumulated.
The feature is only available for the external virtual volume (unavailable for internal
volumes).
Changed Part DKCMAIN
Note 1. It is required to set system option mode 497 to ON to enable the feature.
2. In cases of using Shadow Image/ Shadow Image for ZOS/ Copy on Write Snapshot/ FCv2/
FCv1,
A. The feature is unavailable if a copy operation working with a host I/O is performed,
B. The feature is available if the background copy operation is performed.
3. The feature is unavailable in cases of using the R-VOL of True Copy Async/ True Copy for
ZOS Async or the JNL-VOL of Universal Replicator/ Universal Replicator for ZOS.
1-3 Enhancement for Sun Storage Systems
Description 1. Sun StorEdge 3510 has been supported as an external storage subsystem
2. Sun StorEdge 6130 has been supported as an external storage subsystem
3. The Active/Passive mode of Sun StorEdge 6120/6320 supported
Changed Part DKCMAIN
Note None
1-4 Support for Sun StorageTek Flex380
Description Sun StorageTek Flex380 supported as an external storage subsystem.
Changed Part DKCMAIN

2. Mainframe System
2-1 4 x 4 Universal Replicator for ZOS
Description The remote copy from any of primary subsystems (up to two) to any of secondary subsystems
(up to two) has been available while maintaining data consistency.
Changed Part DKCMAIN
Note 1. The program products of Universal Replicator for ZOS and True Copy for ZOS
(Sync/Async) are required to enable the feature
2. V07 only supports 2 x 2 Universal Replicator for ZOS
HDS Confidential 1 of 20
3. Open System

3-1 Support for 8FS2R/16FS2R/32FS2R PCBs

Description Fibre channel PCBs whose channel transfer speed is 4 GBPS supported.
1. CB models and numbers of ports are as follows:
8FS2R: 4 ports, 16FS2R: 8 ports, 32FS2R: 16 ports
2. The 4 GBPS PCB can be replaced with the 2 GBPS PCB non-disruptively
3. 32FS2R and 32FSR can be replaced each other
4. Connectivity leveraged within the supported range of 32FSR.
Changed Part DKCMAIN/ SVP/ Storage Navigator
Note 1. In case of replacing different PCB models, make sure to replace one set (two pieces)
together. If different models coexist in this case, the maintenance operations, such as micro-
program exchange, will fail
2. In case of replacing 32FS2R with 32FSR, SIM=3999 is output. Since the performance is
degraded, please insert 32FS2R back if you do not replace it on purpose

3-2 Copy-on-Write Snapshot without HDD Loaded

Description The external LU used as Pool-VOL of Copy-on-Write Snapshot is prevented from being
disconnected when in the following status:
1. PSUS status
2. In restore progress
In case of disconnecting the external LU, it is required to resync or delete the Copy-on-Write
Snapshot pair. In addition, if the pair is in restore progress; make sure to perform Disconnect
after the restore operation.
3. The external LU used as a Pool-VOL is prevented from being deleted.
In case of deleting the external LU, it is required to delete the Pool-VOL containing the
external LU to be deleted first, and then delete the external LU.
Changed Part DKCMAIN
Note 1. Installing VFS Sys Area is required.
2. In case of the external volume being used as a Pool-VOL, the micro-program exchange
from version 50-07-30-00/00 or higher to a version lower than 50-07-30-00/00 will be
prevented (it is required to delete the Pool-VOL where an external volume is registered).

3-3 RAID Manager Enhancement

Description RAID Manager has been enhanced as follows:
1. Added the display of instance# using the command device to the output of 'horcctl -D'
option
2. Added '-I[H][M][inst#]' options to the all command that connects to HORCM
3. Added Solaris/x86 to the supported platform
4. Supported ISCSI interface for Windows
5. Supported the device discovery for ISCSI on AIX
6. Changed the command device I/O from RAW_IO to "ioctl()" for supporting AIX MPIO
7. Supported RAID Manager communication between AIX and Windows

and an emergency de-stage is terminated (SSB EC=3272)
When an emergency de-stage, which is performed at the time of cache or
shared memory replacement, is terminated abnormally, the CFW data on
the cache is discarded, but the CFW ID may not be incremented in some
Causes and Updates cases. As a result, the host job cannot recognize that the CFW data was
discarded, and issues an I/O to the CFW data. Since the CFW data does
not exist in the cache memory, the old data is read from the HDD. As a
result, a data problem may occur.
