You’ll Need:
2 x ( 25 1/2” x 12”) main fabric
2 x (25 1/2” x 8 1/2”) base fabric
2 x (26“ x 21”) batting or fusible fleece
2 x (26“ x 21”) medium weight fusible interfacing
2 x (25” x 3”) strip of fabric for bag binding
2”length cotton ribbon, folded in half for tab
(optional)
1 patch for bag (optional)
2 x ( 23” x 1 1/2”) cotton webbing handles
4 x (4 1/2” x 2 1/2”) rectangles of linen for
binding handle-ends
8 rivets and tools to apply (optional)
2 x ( 25” x 19 1/2”) bag lining

2 x (25 1/2” x 8 1/2”) base fabric

2 x (26“ x 21”) batting or fusible fleece
2 x (26“ x 21”) medium weight fusible interfacing

1. Sew together. Lay right side up on top of
25 1/2” x 8 1/2” batting, on top of fusible interfacing. Quilt 1/2”
horizontal lines, or as desired.
2 x (25” x 3”) strip of fabric for bag binding

2. Trim the two quilted bag panels to 25” x 19 1/2” Trim to: 25” x 19 1/2”
each. Cut out a 3 1/2” square from each lower
corner. Press the two bag binding strips in half
lengthwise. Sew the unfinished edges of binding 8”
strips to top of bag panels with a 3/8” seam. Then 3 1/2” 3 1/2”
press the binding up.

add patch 3. Baste stitch the unfinished edges of folded
tab
cotton ribbon to front side of bag. Sew patch to
the center front of bag.

4 x (4 1/2” x 2 1/2”) rectangles of linen for
binding handle-ends
4. Press the four linen rectangles as shown so that
they wrap around the raw edges of the cotton
webbing handles. Glue baste in place.

5. Center and position handle-ends 1” from top
edge of bag, about 8” apart. Sew onto the bag
panels. Apply two rivets per handle-end
according to rivet package instructions.

6. Cut 3 1/2” squares from bottom corners of bag
lining fabrics. Pin right sides together. Sew a
3/8” seam along sides and bottom. Then join
bottom corner seams and sew 3/8” seams.

7. Pin bag panels together, right sides facing and
sew 3/8” seam along sides (including the
binding) and bottom. Join bottom corner seams
and sew 3/8” seams.
8. Turn bag right side out and place bag lining
inside. Glue baste at top edge. Turn bag binding
down inside bag, over the unfinished edges of bag
and lining. Glue baste or pin in place. Top stitch
to secure.
