Everything that surrounds or affects an organism during its lifetime is
collectively referred to as its environment. It comprises both living (biotic) and
nonliving (abiotic) components. Human civilization and globalization are the
dominant culprits of constant change in the global environment in the present
scenario. Various processes that can be said to contribute to the global
environmental problems include pollution, global warming, ozone depletion,
acid rain, depletion of natural resources, overpopulation, waste disposal,
deforestation and loss of biodiversity.
In addition, all these processes are the result of the use of natural
resources in an unsustainable manner. These processes have a highly
negative impact on our environment. One of the major impacts is the release of
large quantities of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the
atmosphere as the result of the burning of fossil fuels by industries and
automobiles. The result is the worldwide pollution problem, temperature
fluctuation of our planet, ozone hole and possible change in Earth’s climate.
On the other hand, one of the causes of this problem is the misbehavior of
the people towards waste management. Some people are reckless in throwing
their garbage. They do not think of the possible results of their actions on the
environment as well as on health. Waste disposal can be defined as any
method used to discard unwanted substances or materials. Poor waste
disposal activities engender severe environmental problems on a location.
Improper waste disposal is the disposal of waste in a way that has negative
consequences for the environment. Examples include littering, hazardous
waste that is dumped into the ground, and not recycling items that should be
recycled.
Moreover, if we want our future generation to live we must do something or
must give an action regarding with this in order for us to preserve our
environment, we must educate ourselves and people regarding with this global
environmental issues and allow ourselves to get involved. And because of that
our leaders or government, different organizations and even the school offer
some program and also Environment relating subject was being included in
different courses, so that we may not just a professional citizen but a citizen that
has discipline. And one of the environment relating subject is Environmental
Education.
Moreover, Environmental education can be very helpful in educating
ourselves on how to preserve our Planet Earth. And Environmental Education
is also defined as a process that allows every individual to explore
environmental issues, engage in problem-solving, and take action to improve
the environment. As a result, individuals develop a deeper understanding of
environmental issues and have the skills to make informed and responsible
decisions. And as I made a proper reading with the article,t I found out that
environmental Education promotes also values formation, just like
responsibility, environmental awareness, and motivation.
On the other hand, regarding in the article entitled “Environmental
Education- The Path to Sustainable Development” it was stated that it is a
central aspect of the process of change towards sustainable development and
building awareness and identification with personal living environments. And
also Environmental Education promotes responsibility to every individual.
In addition, humans are one of the great contributors to an environmental
problem and because of this, we must have an action to prevent this continuing
problem. And there are different groups of people who wanted to preserve our
planet by doing different activities. And one of these is PRO Europe
( Packaging Recovery Organisation Europe) and as I made further research it’s
all about the organization packaging and packaging waste recovery systems.
And since most of the waste was coming from the different packaging this
group initiate a program to minimize the problem of waste
And in order to minimize the effects of packaging on the environment, the
European Green Dot organizations have been successful in developing
programs to sensitize both manufacturers and consumers. At the same time,
thousands of companies have implemented environmental concepts into their
daily business. They are cutting back CO2 emissions, reducing the
consumption of natural resources and avoiding waste. The avoidance and
minimization of environmental effects is an integral aspect of product and
packaging development. More than 230 million Europeans sort their used
packaging for recovery. More and more people are becoming aware of
eco-friendly consumption. Less packaging is being deposited in landfill sites.
In conclusion, I realized that no matter how excellent is the plan of different
groups regarding in solving the environmental issues, if the people outside will
not cooperate then it will be void. So in order for us to preserve our environment
and let the future generation lives we must now do the work and be united.
