Telecom Network Configuration Guide

This document summarizes key information for cell selection in 3G networks. It describes: - How the Primary Synchronization Signal (PSS) and Secondary Synchronization Signal (SSS) are used to determine the physical layer cell identity and cell identity group. - That the Master Information Block (MIB) is transmitted every 40ms on the PBCH channel and provides information like DL bandwidth and antenna configuration. - SIB1, transmitted every 80ms, provides cell identification and selection parameters like PLMN ID and minimum received signal level. - SIB2 describes the random access channel (RACH) configuration including root sequence indexes used to generate preambles.

Cell Selection: PSS=Gives the Physical Layer Identity (0 to 2). PSS and SSS are transmitted in every 5ms.
TDD Location: Sub-frame 1 and 6 & 1St Slot, 2nd OFDM symbol. PCI=3*SSS+PSS
st
FDD Location: Sub-frame 0 and 5, 1 slot & 6 OFDM Symbol.
SSS=Gives the Physical Layer Cell Identity Group (0 to 167).
TDD Location: Sub-frame 0 and 5, 1st slot & 13th OFDM Symbol
FDD Location: Sub-frame 0 and 5, 1st slot & 5th OFDM Symbol
MIB:=Transmitted on PBCH after every 40 ms. DL Channel Bandwidth in terms of RB.
4OFDM Symbol of 2nd slot of 1st sub-frame in Frequency Domain. PHICH Configuration.
72 Subcarrier in Time Domain. No. of Transmitted Antenna.
*Through PHICH UE can find the PDCCH Resource. Transmitted Power.
PBCH MIB PHICH PDCCH PDSCH PLMN Cell Selection Scheduling Info about SIB on DL-SCH.
SIB2 SIB1 System Frame Number.
SIB1: Transmitted in every 80ms.
PLMN ID, Cell ID, TAC ID, Cell Barred, Cell selection Parameter. RxLevMin=68*2=-128.
SrexLev= Rx LevMeas-(Rx levMin+Rx LevOffset)- Pcompensation Rx LevMeas=-119.

SIB2: RACH Parameters
 Root Sequence Index 610 Root sequence index can be planned after following parameter determined:-
 Prach Config Info Logical Root Sequences (0 to 837)----for FDD (0 to 138 for TDD)
Prach Config index 3 Preamble Format (0 to 3)-For FDD
High Speed Flag FALSE Prach Config Index (0 to 63)
Zero Correlation Zone Config 12 Zero Correlation Zone Value=(0 to 15) called Ncs Value =cell radius
Prach Freq offset 8 Cyclic Shift=119 Fixed

One Root Sequence can generate 7 preambles so need 10 Root Sequences for 64 Preambles.
No. of RSI required to generate 64 Preamble=Ceiling[64/{Integer(839/119)}]===10
