REPORT ON THE NEW PHYSICS COURSE
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this report is to comment on the present advantages and disadvantages of
the new physics course and suggest what changes could be made in order to improve the
current situation.
STRENGTHS
Based on my experience, this course had numerous positive aspects. The teacher, besides
creating a pleasant atmosphere during the classes, managed to illustrate very complex
concepts, like the Doppler Effect, through practical activities and theoretical presentations.
Other import advantages were the following: the pupils had the occasion to empathize with
one another, to develop their teamworking skills and to meet deadlines, while participating
in a research project on sound waves.
WEAKNESSES
In my opinion, the physics course had only two weak points. One was the faulty air-
conditioner, which resulted in an extremely hot classroom environment. The other refers to
the three 15-minute breaks throughout the eight-hour course which, consequently, made it
difficult for pupils to maintain their concentration and they did not have enough time to
relax between the learning sessions.
SUGGESTED IMPROVEMENTS
I strongly believe that the equipment should be checked before the class begins, as no
discomfort should be created by technical problems which could be avoided. Moreover,
there is no doubt that the breaks should be longer, so that the students could take their
minds off the complicated formulas and regain their ability to focus.
