Descriptive Essay
Poverty is a state or condition in which a person or community lacks the financial
resources and essentials to enjoy a minimum standard of life and well-being that's
considered acceptable in society. Poverty is a ruthless and relentless enemy with an
arsenal of weapons: infant mortality, hunger, disease, illiteracy and child labor, among
other things. The list of obstacles the poor most overcome seems endless. These
poverty facts highlight the devastating effect poverty has on its victims, especially the
most vulnerable. Given the recent economic problems that we experience, there are
many ways on how we can prevent or lessen such problems. In our country, we do
experience Poverty. First, it will start with you. If you want to have promising career in
the future then you need to persevere and work hard. We need to face the reality that
everything in this world is not easily earned. Once must do his/her best in order for them
to achieve those things. Second, “Family Planning”. Family planning allows people to
attain their desired number of children and determine the spacing of pregnancies. It is
achieved through use of contraceptive methods and the treatment of infertility. Poverty
happens because there are a lot of members in the family wherein the parents cannot
even sustain the needs, especially the basic needs of their children. It must be execute
in order for them to have the desired members of family and so that they can easily
sustain all of their needs. Third, ensure that everyone gets a good education would be
to provide very high-quality early education to all children from low-income families.
Many people believe that education in the preschool years only affects young children.
In fact, the evidence from both neuroscience and from carefully done program
evaluations shows that preschool experiences have long-lasting effects and may be the
most cost-effective way to insure that more children are successful in the K-12 years,
graduate from high school, go on to college, and earn more as adults. The federal
government could further this goal by providing matching funding to states that are
willing to invest in high-quality early education for those living in low-income
neighborhoods, starting in the first year of life. Fourth, Employment generation.
Carefully and extensively planned employment programs funded by the government can
spur growth in jobs. Industries requiring substantial labor forces can also be given
significantly larger aid from the government. Focus should be placed on developing
companies that offer sustainable and long-term jobs to the community. Companies
should also budget sufficiently for employee training and related community programs,
so that employees and prospective employees can keep their skills relevant and up-to-
date. Fifth, Taxing the rich more and the poor less. Redistribution of wealth will be an
imperative step in eradicating poverty. The rich get richer while the poor get poorer.
Taxing methods need to be tailored to an individual’s financial bracket to ensure that
upward social mobility becomes an absolute possibility. Lastly, Volunteer. Finally, get
involved in the most efficient way possible—volunteer your time and energy to
something that matters, something that helps. Whether it’s something as simple as
serving food at a shelter or something as elaborate as traveling overseas as a
missionary, this is the best way to help most directly those in need.
