Letter of Intent

The document is a letter from two architecture students, Christian T. Carbon and Vicssie Marie S. Corpin, requesting approval and guidance from their thesis adviser, Ar. Lance Bulangkit, for one of four proposed thesis project ideas: 1) a food processing plant for Belchris Foods Inc.; 2) an upgrade to the Danao City sea port terminal; 3) a retreat house, nature park, and camp site in Badian, Cebu; or 4) an integrated home for the aged and orphanage for the homeless. ARCH’T. JAIME A. PERALTA

CHAIRMAN THESIS COUNCIL
COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND ARCHITETURE
UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN PHILIPPINES - FOUNDATION

Sir:

We, Christian T. Carbon and Vicssie Marie S. Corpin, a BS Architecture student of the University of
Southern Philippines Foundation, would like to seek your approval of one of my intended project
proposals:

 A Proposed Food Processing Plant of Belchris Foods, Inc.

Because of high in sales of Belchris Foods, Inc. and rapid growth of the company here in the Philippines,
one of the General Manager of Belchris Foods Inc. Mrs. Christine D. Un, plans to put up a Food
Processing plant here in Cebu City. This Plant will supply the demand of Belchris Food products within
the Visayas region and in some part of the country. The owner sees this project as a major solution for
the growing demands of their products. For an amateur, we think this can help me experience what it’s
like to have a real project.

This might be the key to one of our successes as a student together with the assistance and guidance of
our thesis adviser Ar. Lance Bulangkit. I hope this might ring interest in your minds.

We are hoping for your kind consideration.

Sincerely yours,

Christian T. Carbon Vicssie Marie S. Corpin

Sir:

We, Christian T. Carbon and Vicssie Marie S. Corpin, a BS Architecture student of the University of
Southern Philippines Foundation, would like to seek your approval of one of my intended project
proposals:

 A Proposed Upgrade of Danao City Sea Port Terminal

Filipinos have become very mobile these days and are fast catching up with the accelerating global
trends in IT, trade and tourism industries. Despite the fragmented and scattered geography of the
Philippines, nothing seems to stop them from moving across these thousands of islands traveling by
land, sea and air; no matter what their status in society may be.

Danao City is experiencing the effect of Filipinos’ mobility because of the influx of tourists passing thru
its sea port mostly en route to the Camotes Islands. Thus, the Cebu Ports Authority is compelled to
upgrade the capacity and quality of service of Danao sea-port terminal to accommodate the increasing
volume of travelers. Consequently, it is contemplating to welcome at least two (2) fast-craft companies
to help them I this endeavor in addition to its current RORO and traditional sea-crafts that are currently
operating in the port. It is also open to the possibility of accommodating more destinations, if possible,
aside from the existing Camotes and Ormoc trips.

Corpin

 A Proposed Retreat House, Nature Park, and Camp Site

Nowadays, people would go and travel to far places just to unwind and drawback from the stress that
they are experiencing at work, school, etc., and/or wanted to reconnect with nature and with God.
Schools, universities, and companies that are to have retreats are definitely one of the focuses of this
proposed project. The tranquillity and peacefulness of a place and a person being one with nature helps
boost the sanity of one’s being. The stress, pressure, anxiety, trauma, and/or depression that a person is
feeling can be helped in relieving through going on retreats with closest friends, colleagues or just
having some alone time. We endeavour to help save people and put away the stress, make them realize
their worth, create fun yet erudite memories, and make them love nature and God even more.

This might be the key to one of our successes as a student together with the assistance and guidance of
our thesis adviser Ar. Lance Bulangkit. I hope this might ring interest in your minds.

 A Proposed Integrated Home for the Aged and Orphanage for the Homeless

Here in the Philippines, we practiced or shall we say always had a close family ties. Even if we get
married and have kids, we still stay with our parents. But at the present time, children when became
successful, tend to forget to take good care of their parents and just send money until they got old.
Some elite people take their parents to Home for the Aged. We cannot deny it, but it’s true and it is
happening. This proposed project integrates with the Home for the Aged located Guinsay, Danao City. It
is a average home but with growing population of Danao, we planned to proposed a branch or another
home for certain people. We intend to start at Danao City, because it is a small city yet many elderly are
neglected and are abandoned, the same thing with the kids and families that are homeless and are
sleeping on the sidewalks all over the streets of Danao City. We think that it would be a great help to
give them shelter, clothes, a food to eat, and the like. Start small to build a big future.

This might be the key to one of our successes as a student together with the assistance and guidance of
our thesis adviser Ar. Lance Bulangkit. I hope this might ring interest in your minds.
