Key Concepts/  Dating is a social activity which involves two or more people generally assessing each

Developed:  Courtship is the period in a couple’s relationship which precedes their engagement and
marriage.
 Marriage is the most significant event that may happen to one’s life.

4. Procedure
4.1 Introductory LOOP-A-WORD
Activity:
 The teacher will let the learners find words from the puzzle which are related to marriage.
(5 min)

 The words are:


1. Dating
2. Engagement
3. Courtship
4. Love
5. Infatuation
6. Marriage
7. Friendship
8. Pregnancy
9. Newborn
10. Family

 The teacher will ask:


1. What words have you found?
2. How do you classify these words?

4.2 Activity GROUP ACTIVITY:


1. Group the students into five groups.
2. Instruct them to do picture-connectivity.
(15 min) 3. They are going to describe each picture.
4. Each group will choose one representative to report their answer to the class.
4.3 Analysis: The teacher will ask:
1. How did you find the activity?
(8 min) 2. What words can you form out of these pictures?
3. How do these pictures apply to you?
4. Why is courtship and dating important in choosing a lifetime partner?

4.4 Abstraction: The teacher will give a short discussion of the following:
1. Dating
(10 min) 2. Courtship
3. Marriage
4. The importance of courtship and dating in choosing lifetime partner

4.5 Application: GROUP ACTIVITY

(10 min) Sharing of personal experiences in courtship


This activity will help the students to reflect on their past experiences during courtship and to
understand the nature of the boys and girls during courtship.
Procedure:

• Let them make a single circle, so that everyone will have a chance to talk and share his/her
personal experiences.
• Instruct them to close their eyes for one minute and reminisce the past.
• Each one of them has one minute to share.

After the sharing, ask the following questions:


1. How do you feel sharing your love story?
2. Do boys and girls have the same style in courting the opposite sex?
3. What can you say about courtship before and at present times?
4. What do you think are the ways on how to preserve marriage?

5. Assessment Answer the following questions:


1. It is a social activity which involves two or more people generally assessing each other’s suitability
