“SELECTING NEW HANDPHONE”
Almost all people in the world have a handphone. Handphone has many functions such as for
communication with other people around the world, taking pictures, watching videos, searching
the meaning of a word, calculate, browse information fast and easily, etc. Currently, Della as
Master in Business Administration of ITB at second grade whose daily life that highly dependent
on her cellphone for her personal life, school life and business life. That is why handphone is an
electronic technology that very important for her life. In the last 3 months, since the disrupted her
school, she could not sleep. The reason for this was because she had a problem with her
cellphone while she was using her cellphone. The cellphone suddenly turned itself off then, it
didn't want to turn on even on the charge. Therefore, Della brought the cellphone to a service
man who he had trusted for the past 5 years. The service person said that the cellphone connector
was damaged due to prolonged usage. SHe has experienced this several times, so that it cannot
be fixed, they suggested Della to replace it with a new cellphone.
Della has a preference for the specifications of the mobile phone to be purchased, because the
productivity that she does is very dependent on this device. Della wants mobile performance that
is fast, stable, and feels not heavy even though it is used to access many applications though. So
that Della does not compromise for battery life that is more durable. In the current era of
information disclosure, privacy is a rare component that is rarely provided by technology
companies that are able to protect users from various types of malware from illegal applications.
Android smartphones are produced by many vendors, so they don't have certain characteristics
that make them iconic. Unlike the iPhone which is only produced and will always belong to
Apple. One of the best features that the iPhone has as an iPhone advantage is TouchID. Although
some other Android brands have adopted fingerprint security, the iPhone series with TouchID is
considered the most accurate. Now there are two of the best operating system choices, namely
Android and iOS.
Operating System
Operating system (OS) is one important factor for gadget users in determining the smartphone of
choice. Because the operating system's performance has proven capable of influencing many
things, ranging from user experience, available features, to software update schedules. There are
two Operating Systems that are very popular in this era, two of them are Google Android and
Apple iOS. IOS OS is closed source which means the user cannot change the device to their
liking. Because of this, iOS is arguably better in the privacy sector and has fewer security holes
than smartphones with the Android operating system. This is evidenced, throughout the course of
the iPhone in the smart phone industry, not a single hacker was able to break into the security
features of this device, not even FBI. As an Android user, you certainly can't get the above
protection, especially if the smartphone used has been rooted so that it becomes an easy target
for irresponsible hackers.
But not many people know that Android is designed to be adjusted. Various cell phone
companies such as Asus, LG, HTC, Sony, Samsung, and others are a few examples of
technology manufacturers offering Android-based phones. Therefore, do not be surprised if this
Android phone has a lot of diverse views when compared to IOS. To be able to change the
appearance of Android is also very easy, by installing the Launcher application. Then the
appearance of your Android phone can be changed at will. In fact, with Laucher you can also
make your Android phone similar to IOS. In addition, Multi Windows is the most prominent
feature on the Galaxy Note Android phone. Also, Multi Windows or multitasking allows you to
run two applications at the same time. For example, you can watch videos while responding to e-
mail or browsing at the same time.
Android is a mobile operating system based on open source, which can be adopted by anyone
and by any mobile manufacturer. Because mobile devices are diverse, Android cellphone battery
capacity is also more diverse if compared to IOS-based phones. Android phones also usually last
longer. However, this is certainly still dependent on the capacity of the battery itself.
Solution
From the case that Della facing, the first step is to develop a graphical representation of the
problem in terms of the overall foal, the criteria, and the decision alternatives. Della’s goal is
selecting a new phone, the criterias are price, privacy, design, and battery.The alternative choice
of Della are iOS and Android.

But these calculations are not enough to help Della to find her new cellphone. Apple's iOS itself
has several types of mobile phones that Della needs to consider to be selected according to the
criteria he has made. In selecting the type of cellphone, Della still put the same criteria but with
