Brief Description:
Barangay Poblacion is located at the center of the town of Carmen.It is the
center where the catholic church,convent,plaza,some schools,municipal hall and
establishments were located.It is the center of four barrios namely:Barangay
Dawis Norte,Cogon East,Baring and Ypil,Barangay Poblacion is a place where
various shows and celebrations were held.Barangay poblacion has creeks,river,
and spring.One of its famous is the Bukingking spring where some people used for
their daily washing,cleaning,bathing and drinking.It was a beautiful place
attracted by many people especially the children.This barangay is composed of
seven sitio which is its own divisions.Sitio Bodega,Bukingking,Climaco,Lower
Camoning,Upper Camoning,Pier,and Cangyan.
Here’s a brief profile of the people in Poblacion,Population 4.845 consisting
of 2,374 females and 2,4721 males in ages 0-90 above.
Historical origin:
Barangay Poblacion is under the jurisdiction of fCarmen,under the
Province of Cebu,It was established in 1965.The first appointed barangay
chairman was Mr.Juan Plando, with councilors Manuel Davidon,Bernard
Gonzales,VeronicoBuot,Benedicto Aunzo and Alfeo Costan.In 1984,the first
Kabataang barangay election were held with Nerio Trocio as KB chairman,and
Sergio Ceniza,as barangay chairman with councilors Mrs.Gaudiosa
B.Damiles,Felicitas Tibon,Estefa Trocio,Jesus Capangpangan,Verner Gonzales and
Benedicto Aunzo,Mrs.Helen Maningo,the barangay treasurer,and Monina Costan
as barangay secretary.Barangay poblacion composed of seven sitio which is its
own divisions.Sitio Bodega,Bukingking,Climaco,Lower Camoning,Upper
Camoning,Pier,and Cangyan.
BEFORE,DURING,AND AFTER A FLOOD
BEFORE A FLOOD:
-Build an emergency kit and make a family communications plan.
-Avoid building in a floodplain unless you elevate and reinforce your home.
-Elevate the fumace,water heater and electric panel in your home if you live
in areas that has a high flood risk.
During a flood:
-Listen to the radio or television for information.
-Be aware that flash flooding can occur.If there is any possibility of a flash
flood,move immediately to higher ground.Do not wait for instructions to move.
-Be aware of stream,drainage channels,canyons and other areas known to
flood suddenly.Flash floods can occur in these areas with or without typical
warnings,such as rain clouds or heavy rain.
After a flood:
-Avoid moving water.
-Stay away from damaged areas unless your assistance has been
specifically requested by police,fire,or relief organization.
-Emergency workers will be assisting people in flooded areas.You can
help them by staying off the roads and out of the way.
-Play it safe.Additional flooding or flash floods can occur.Listen for local
warnings and information.If your car stalls in rapidly rising waters,get our
immediately and climb to higher ground.
What is a hazard?
Hazards are threats represented by geophysical events and processes that
may cause deaths,injuries,damage,loss,and destruction.
What hazard are present in barangay
poblacion?
According to our survey and Inquiries in Poblacion, the hazards that
mostly happen in this barangay are landslides and flood.Causes of the occurrence
of harads is because of the state of the land in Poblacion.Some places are really
prone to Hazards.Let’s take Bukingking as an example because it is located near
the highway but a little lower.
WHAT ARE AFFECTED WHEN THESE ARE HAZARDS?
The one’s affected in hards are of course the citizens living in the
barangay but aside from the people living,the infrastures,and their daily living will
also be highly affected.
