NIESBUD

 NIESBUD was established in 1983 by the ministry of


industry, Govt of India.
 It is an apex body for coordinating & overseeing the
activities of various institutions engaged in ED
activities.
 The role of NIESBUD is that of a catalyst as it helps
in developing the effectiveness of all organisations.
Activities of NIESBUD

• Assisting/supporting EDPs
• Training for trainers/promoters
• Creation & capacity building of EDP Institutions.
• Small business focus
• National/international forum for exchange of ideas &
expressions.
• Developing entrepreneurial culture.
• National entrepreneurship development board (NEDB)
• Services to affiliate members.
• To conduct workshops, seminars & conferences for
developing entrepreneurship
Objectives of NIESBUD

 To evolve standardized materials and processes for selection, training, support and sustenance
of entrepreneurs, potential and existing.

 To help/support and affiliate institutions/organizations in carrying out training and other


entrepreneurship development related activities

 To serve as an apex national level resource institute for accelerating the process of
entrepreneurship development ensuring its impact across the country and among all strata of
the society.

 To provide vital information and support to trainers,promoters and entrepreneurs by


organizing research and documentation relevant to entrepreneurship development.

 To train trainers, promoters and consultants in various areas of entrepreneurship development.


Objectives

 To provide national/international forums for interaction and


exchange of experiences helpful for policy formulation and
modification at various levels.
 To offer consultancy nationally/internationally for promotion of
entrepreneurship and small business development.
To share internationally experience and expertise in
entrepreneurship development.
 To share experience and expertise in entrepreneurship
development across National frontiers.
 In order to attain its objectives NIESBUD carries out a wide range of
activities such as the following.
Evolving effective training strategies and methodology
Standardizing model syllabus for training various target groups.
Objectives

Formulating scientific selection procedures.


Developing training aids,manuals,and tools.
Facilitating and supporting Central/state/other agencies
in executing entrepreneurship development programmes.
 Conducting such programmes for promoters,
trainers,and entrepreneurs who are not undertaken by
other agencies.
 Maximizing benefits and accelerating the process of
entrepreneurship development.
 Organizing all those activities that help develop
entrepreneurial culture in the society.
Entrepreneurship Development Institute
of India (EDII)

 The entrepreneurship development institute of India


(EDI) is established in 1983 and helps the
unemployed to get job
 This institute is sponsored by IDBI bank limited,
IFCI limited, ICICI limited and SBI limited.
 EDII has supported for creation of CEDs & IEDs in
the country.
 Entrepreneurs need not be born , they can be
developed.
Objectives of EDII

 To increase the supply of trained entrepreneurs


 Provide opportunities for self employment
 Improve managerial capabilities of SSI
 Promote micro entreprise at the rural level.
 Inculcate the spirit of entrepreneurship
 To increase the social base of entrepreneurial class
IED

 To develop most backward states , IDBI had


announced the proposal to set up IEDs .
 IEDs are in UP, Bihar ,Orissa & MP.
 Programmes on industrial extension motivation ,
business opportunity guidance , project counseling
for women , entrepreneurial awareness workshop for
ex-servicemen.
 Conducting Management development programme
SIDBI

 SIDBI (Small Industries Devlopment Bank of India)


 The purpose is to provide refinance facilities and short
term lending to industries. It is headquartered in
Lucknow.[
Set up on April 2, 1990
 The principal financial institution for the promotion,
financing and development of industry in the small scale
sector and to co-ordinate the functions of the institutions
engaged in the promotion and financing or developing
industry in the small scale sector.
 They conduct EDPs for rural poor, women, SC/ST, ex-
servicemen and others in North eastern part.
NAYE

 NAYE – National Alliance of young entrepreneurs


 Pioneer in promotion & development of
entrepreneurship among women
 To make women self-reliant and improve their
standard of living
 NAYE has arranged several schemes of
entrepreneurial development in collaboration with
public sector banks such as Bank of India, Dena
Bank, Punjab National Bank, Central Bank of India
and Union Bank of India.
Objectives of NAYE

 Help young entrepreneurs' in identifying investment


and self-employment opportunities.
Secure proper arrangement for their training.
Provide necessary financial assistance on the basis of
project reports.
 Secure package of consultancy services.
 Arrange for getting assistance, facilities and
incentives extended to entrepreneurs by the
government and other institutions.
SISI

 The small industries service institutes (SISI’s) are set


-up one in each state to provide consultancy and
training to small and prospective entrepreneurs.
 The activities of SISs are co-ordinate by the
industrial management training division, SSI office
(New Delhi).
 There are 28 SISI’s and 30 Branch SISI’s set up in
state capitals and other places all over the country.
Functions of SISI

 To assist existing and prospective entrepreneurs


through technical and managerial counseling such as
help in selecting the appropriate machinery and
equipment, adoption of recognized standards of
testing, quality performance etc;
Conducting EDPs all over the country;
 To advise the Central and State governments on
policy matters relating to small industry
development;
To assist in testing of raw materials and products of
SSIs, their inspection and quality control;
NSIC

 The NSIC (National small industries corporation)was


set up in 1955 with the objective of supplying
machinery and equipment to small enterprises on
hire purchase basis
 Assisting in procuring government orders for various
items of stores with a view to promote any faster the
development of SSI in the country.
 The Head Office of NSIC is at Delhi and it has four
regional offices at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and
Kolkata and eleven branch offices.
Functions of NSIC

To develop small scale units are ancillary units to large-scale


industries.
 To provide machines and equipments to SSI’s on hire-
purchase basis.
To help enterprises to participate in the stores purchase
programme of the Central government.
To assist small industries in marketing their products.
To make available the basis raw materials through their
depots.
 To import and meet the requirement of components and parts
to actual small scale users in specific industries.
To construct Industrial Estates and establish and run
prototype production-cum training centers to carter the need
of prospective entrepreneurs.
DIC

 District Industries Centers (DICs) have emerged


since 1978 as the model agency for development of
small and village industries.
 Its aim is to provide a focal point for promoting
small, tiny, cottage and village industries in a
particular area and to make available to them all
necessary services and facilities at one place.
Functions of DIC

 Technical support for preparation of Project Report.


Information on sources of machinery & Equipment.
Priority in Power supply / Telephone connection.
Promotion of new Industrial Estates / Growth
Centres.
Land/ Shed in Industrial Estate.
Approval of Project Reports of special types.
 Marketing information.
 Marketing assistance through participation in
Exhibitions/ Trade Fairs/ Buyers-Sellers Meet etc
ITCOT

 Industrial and Technical Consultancy Organization


of Tamilnadu Limited (ITCOT), was incorporated as
a company under the Companies Act, 1956, on 17th
July 1979 as a joint venture of leading financial
institutions, State Development Corporations, and
Commercial Banks.
Functions of ITCOT

 The ITCOT has conducted over 500 training


programs, seminars, and workshops in major cities
and towns in India addressed to Corporates, business
persons, executives, financial institutions, Banks,
and development agencies.

SIDO

 Small Industries Development Organisation (SIDO)


 SIDO is a policy-making, coordinating and
monitoring agency for the development of
entrepreneurs in small scale industries
 It provides consultancy services and technical,
managerial, economic and marketing assistance to
SSI units.
Functions of SIDO

 to assess the requirements of indigenous and


imported raw materials and components for the
small scale sector and to arrange their supplies
 to prepare model schemes, project reports for
prospective entrepreneurs
 to secure reservations of certain products for the SSIs.
 to collect data on consumer items which are
imported and encourage the setting up of new units
by giving them coordinated assistance
TCO

 Technical Consultancy organisation , was set in 1970s


and 80s in collaboration with IDBI, IFCI & ICICI
 Conducts Industrial Potential Surveys
 Preparation of profiles referred to them by financial
institutions
 Evaluation of projects referred to them by financial
institutions
Conduct of entrepreneurship development programmes
Provision of technical and administrative assistance to
small/medium enterprises wherever necessary
SIPCOT

 State Industries Promotion Corporation of TamiLnadu


Limited
 It was started in 1971 and fully owned by tamilnadu
government,
 SIPCOT's role is to plan, promote and develop medium
and major industries
 Provision of financial assistance
 Implementation of a package of incentives for the benefit
of entrepreneurs.
 provision of developed lands at reasonable cost on easy
payment terms.
