The Effectivity of Orange Peelings (Citrus sinensis) and Coconut Vinegar
(Cocos nucifera) as a Tile Cleaner
Significance of the Study
Nowadays people have been using chemically made tile cleaners which lead to
poisoning, and pollution because of how they make it, and global warming for the company’s
factories. Some tiles are now dangerous because of some cleaners; sometimes they do not wash
out quickly and may lead to a cause of diseases or even death. This can pose a great threat to
mankind. If people continue to do activities, it will result in a major destruction to us or to the
environment. The future generation will surely take effect.
For families, the most important part of the house is the bathrooms and kitchens. It needs
to be cleaned regularly especially if the bathrooms and kitchens have tiles which lead to buying
of chemically made cleaners out there. When they buy the chemically made ones they do not
know it can cause many problems. This leads to researchers seek to bio-friendly and less
hazardous tile cleaners made out of the mixture of orange peelings and coconut vinegar.
In the Philippines, orange are abundant, most of its peelings too, but are usually thrown
away. Thus, the researchers proposed to make use of orange peelings, as a main component in
making a tile cleaner. It is made by boiling the vinegar then adding the orange peelings and let it
alone for 3 weeks and because of this, it makes the mixture clean and safe. If they continue to
make this tile cleaner, they can lessen pollution in the air, water, and land. Moreover this could
also lessen the hazardous chemicals which cause several harmful effects to the environment.
Thus minimizing the effects of the depletion of the ozone layer.
Objectives:
1. To determine the effectiveness of the orange peelings (Citrus sinensis) and coconut vinegar
(Cocos nucifera) as an alternative to the chemical and commercial tile cleaner, we will test it on
the bathrooms and kitchen.
2. To compare the results of the combination of the “Orange peelings (Citrus sinensis) and
coconut vinegar (Cocos nucifera) as an alternative tile cleaner” with the chemically and
commercial tile cleaner.
