Lent, forty days before
Easter, on Carnival Day,
one day before Ash
Wednesday.
What people The costumes they wear
wear. are characteristic of the
Venetian 18th century.
The masquera nobile and
maschera del galeone
abound, a white mask
with black or dark-colored
silk clothing and a three-
pointed hat. After 1972,
other colors have been
added to the costumes,
although the masks are
still mostly white, silver
and gold.
