Groundskeepers will use machinery, ranging from lawn mowers and weed eaters to handheld gardening tools,
to cut and shape the grass and surrounding trees and shrubbery.
Responsibilities
Golf course groundskeepers are responsible for ensuring that the course is safe for play. This involves going
over the grounds with an eye for potential hazards, such as sinkholes, flooding, cracked or damaged paths,
debris and animals. This kind of thorough review must be conducted daily.
Salary and Job Outlook

With an estimated rate of growth of 12 percent, the BLS believes that the management field will increase at the
same average rate as found across all industries. This represents an increase of more than 34,000 jobs.
Golf course management education

Most bachelor of science programs require the student to complete a minimum of 120-200 credit hours (units)
for the degree. Associate of science/applied science degrees normally require a minimum of 60-100 credit
hours (units).
