CIVIC CENTRE PLAZA- THESIS REPORT
SYNOPSIS
 Introduction:
Civic centre is the area in the centre of a town where municipal offices and other public
buildings are situated which includes a large public building or complex for meetings, sports,
and entertainments. A civic centre represents the image of region and its residents. The
building is centre of all societies, of all groups, and of every activity. The opportunity for
grouping buildings in cities is often considered desirable, both in facilitation of public
business and in the promotion of civic art, Civic institutions, such as parks, libraries, city halls
and cultural facilities, are the foundations of a civil society and the cornerstones of
democracy.
When civic institutions are located in places that are easily accessible by pedestrians and
transit, they help to make a city more walk able and reduce dependence on the automobile

scale businesses and local entrepreneurship through vending programs, farmers' markets
festivals and other locally-sponsored activities

Philosophy of design and theoretical background:
The design and orientation of plazas should encourage pedestrian use throughout all

The aim is to design a platform that will allow people from different backgrounds together,
collate and share their culture. Simultaneously, it has to serve the purpose of a community

Justification of the Topic
Civic centre is a group of all communities gathering together used as a public spaces. Its
create a lot of bonding between peoples and sharing each other with surrounding. So, I like
to create more recreational and more open areas playing with landscapes.
They enjoyed a lot of cultural facilities, shopping and recreational facilities like auditorium.

1.Municipal Corporation of Delhi Civic Centre is the tallest building in Delhi at 102
metres and 28 floors.

Conclusion:
Maintain and reinforce the Civic Centre as the symbolic and ceremonial focus for the
administrative and civil judicial functions of the City, State and Governments, and as a focal
point for cultural, ceremonial and political activities. It is in a way of hybrid between
conventional centre or cultural hub and a commercial centres at a much reduced scale.
