Chamber Choir House Rules
The Chamber Choir at Vickery Creek Middle School is supposed to be the premier performing ensemble. It is
supposed to have the students who are the most musically talented, the hardest working, and the most
motivated and focused students. That is what has made Chamber Choir one of the most successful and
impressive middle school choirs in the entire state of Georgia – because of their hard work, focus, talent, and
dedication the Chamber Choir doesn’t sound like a middle school choir.
Every student in the Chamber Choir is musically talented enough to be here. As the director, I feel it is a matter
of focus and motivation. Yes, you are all good singers . . . that is why we sound good. But we shouldn’t sound
good – we should sound unbelievably great.
These are the expectations for Chamber Choir. Not following one of these expectations will result in one
demerit. After a total of 6 demerits, you will be asked to leave the group.
         1. No cell phones visible. If you need to check the time, wear a watch or ask
someone who is wearing a watch. If there is an emergency, your parents know where
         you are.
         2. Leave your last class when car riders are dismissed to get a snack and use the
restroom. You are expected to be in the chorus room by the time they announce last
         call for busses.
         3. You have to give 100% and participate, especially during sectionals. Section
Leaders are expected to notify me about members who are not focused.
         4. Sign in without being told.
         5. Practice at home at least twice each week. When you practice have a parent sign
your practice log. Section leaders will check these at every rehearsal. Students without
a signed practice log will receive 2 demerits.
         6. Have your music and a pencil at every rehearsal.
         7. Allow Section Leaders to lead. They were chosen because they know a lot about
music and singing, so listen to what they have to say about the songs. If you want to
make a comment or suggestion, raise your hand and the Section Leader will call on you.
I, _________________________________________, have read the Chamber Choir house rules. I understand
their importance in making Chamber Choir the best that it can be. I also understand that if I break one of the
house rules, I will receive a demerit, and that after receiving 6 demerits, I will be asked to leave the Chamber
Choir.
