DIRECTION: This summative test has 50 items. Please answer the following in a yellow paper.

I. ANALYSIS AND APPLICATION: Choose the correct answer then EXPLAIN your answer in not more than 2
sentences (2 points for each item, total of 20 points).

1. Which scenario best shows wisdom:

A. Patrick Lee is an immigrant from Fujian, China. Since China is presently occupying islands claimed by the
Philippines in West Philippine Sea, it is but just for Patrick Lee to relinquish his loyalty with China if he wants to
study in San Beda University.

B. Patrick Lee as an immigrant from China should be welcomed by the San Beda University. But he should not
speak about Chinese incursion in South China Sea in order not to fuel discord among his Filipino classmates.

C. Patrick Lee as an immigrant from China should be welcomed in San Beda University just like how the
University welcomes any person who wishes to enroll in its school and follow its academic policies and
guidelines.

D. The Philippine government should not welcome immigrants from China as a matter of national security.

A. Mark should accept the fact that he failed the subject then just transfer in another school

B. Mark should blame his teacher for his failure as student because it is the teacher’s responsibility to educate
him.

C. Mark should face the consequences of failing his subject but trust that God has better plans for him

You are standing next to a lever that controls a switch. If you pull the lever, the trolley will be redirected onto a
side track, and the five people on the main track will be saved. However, there is a single person lying on the
side track. You have two options:

A. Do nothing and allow the trolley to kill the five people on the main track.

B. Pull the lever, diverting the trolley onto the side track where it will kill one person.

Which is the more ethical option? Explain. (5 points)

2. A trolley is hurtling down a track towards five people. You are on a bridge under which it will pass, and you
can stop it by putting something very heavy in front of it. As it happens, there is a very fat man next to you- your
only way to stop the trolley is to push him over the bridge and onto the track, killing him to save five. Should you
proceed? Explain. (5 points)

IV. PHILOSOPHICAL INTERPRETATION (20 points)

Direction: Interpret the following text in a philosophical manner. Use the following steps.

Step 1: Dissect the text


Step 2: Interpret the text using different analytical/critical lens (philosophical schools of thoughts,
ideology, theories, philosopher/theorists, worldview, principles etc.)
Step 3: Make a philosophical thesis based on your interpretation of the text
Step 4: State whether you agree or disagree on the philosophical thesis then make arguments to prove
your position
Step 5: Prove your philosophical arguments through logic, real-life and easy to understand example
