NSTP or the National Service Training Program aims to uplift the spirit of nationalism of the Filipino
youth. This program promotes the sense of service and giving back to the country through social
welfare, civil acts and military training programs. As a student taking up Civic Welfare Training
Service, I can contribute in nation by doing my best to become more productive by voluntarily
helping people who are in need. In can be productive by simply following the laws in our country and
by simply being a good individual.
NSTP is really a good help in addressing societal issues like for example giving and sharing our
knowledge to people. It is more fulfilling to share what we know and we learn during our NSTP class.
Our immersion started last March 9, 2019 as we started our immersion, we started applying what we
know and what we learn during our NSTP class. On that Saturday, we supposed to held a talk about
Social Media issues specifically the use of Facebook, how it can affect to people especially the youth
if we misuse how it should be used. Unfortunately we were not able to conduct our talk because our
venue which is Baranggay Railway La Paz Iloilo is having a General Cleaning which is conflict for the
schedule of our talk. Although the talk was not successful we used our time by making a plan on
what to do for the next Saturday and that was held successfully. There we realized the essence of
being responsible and spending our time wisely.
We continued our talk last March 16, 2019 about the effects and the use of Social Media specifically
the use and effects of Facebook to the youth. The venue of our program was held in Baranggay Sto.
Rosario started 8:00 o’clock in the morning until 11:30 in noontime. The program aims to spread
awareness specifically the youth for them to become aware about the negative effects of the social
media physically and mentally. The program was successfully held, and our audience are also
participating and enjoying in our activities. Sharing our knowledge is really a great achievement in
our NSTP because we are effective students of CWTS by being responsible and generous by sharing
our knowledge.
Our 3rd day of immersion March 23, 2019, was held on the same venue (Baranggay Sto. Rosario) and
the same time (8:00 in the morning until 11:00 noontime. Our talk was about HIV awareness, first
aid and the proper bandaging. Sharing what we learn during our training as a responder last Feb. 9,
2019 is very helpful because we already have knowledge on what to do if something bad happens,
we are able to share our knowledge to people so that they will also become aware on what to do
when an emergency occurs. Also it aims to address HIV issues and awareness which is a big issue in
our society these days.
My role in addressing issues and promoting and spreading awareness may be an inspiration to other
youths out there. Although I can’t contribute much in the society, I can also help in addressing
societal issues even in my own little ways, like being a good student and being a good citizen in our
country. I can’t make a big impact alone but if I can share to people what I know and make people
see the worst case scenarios if societal issues are not addressed properly, we can help each other in
building a better nation.
