ADMISSION AGAINST VACANT SEATS
M.PHIL. COURSES
SESSION 2019 - 2020
It may please be noted that all admissions are provisional.
The Merit Lists given below are provisional and is subject to:
i. fulfilling the eligibility criteria as notified earlier.
ii. the verification of the equivalence of marks/degree from other universities to
those of this university, wherever applicable.
iii. correction in the merit position due to error, if any.
If at the time of counselling/admission and verification of marks, it is found by the
university authority that
a student does not satisfy the eligibility criteria, and does not have completed
results up to and including 3rd semester (or semester up to the Final
semester) or Part-I of Masters course in the relevant subject, s/he will not be
considered for admission, even if he/she is provisionally selected for
admission;
a student has provided incorrect information in his online application form,
his/her application and offer of provisional admission shall be liable to be
cancelled;
a student had entered incorrect marks in his/her on-line application form,
his/her rank position in the selection/merit list provided below shall be
revised and corrected accordingly on the basis of actual marks obtained in
the examination concerned.
The provisional admission of current students who have appeared in M.A/M.Sc or its
equivalent 4th semester (second year second semester) Examination 2019 shall be
automatically cancelled if they are not declared to have passed securing at least 55%
(50% for SC/ST/PD/OBC-A/OBC-B category) marks in aggregate in such Examination
2019, after the publication of the results of the fourth semester examination. Their
provisional admission will be cancelled even if they are declared eligible for Special
Supplementary Examination 2019 as per the Examination Rules of the university.
At the time of counseling/ admission those students (if provisionally selected) must
submit a proof of completion of M.A/ M.Sc Final Examination, 2019 authenticated

by the appropriate authority of his/her college/ institute/ university in prescribed
format (click here).
Even if a student’s marks in any particular examination at Master’s level increases
after review of his/her result for that examination by the concerned Institute/
University after the last date of submission of online application such additional
marks shall not be considered hereafter and at the time of counselling/admission,
and his/her rank position in the provisional merit list published below shall not be
changed.
At the time of counselling/admission, all provisionally selected candidates who have
completed their Masters Degree or equivalent in 2018 or before must submit an
affidavit that they are not registered in any other day course anywhere/elsewhere,
failing of which her/his admission will be cancelled.
If a provisionally selected candidate is already admitted to any other
college/university and is pursuing any full-time day-course there, s/he will be
required to submit an affidavit (at the time of counselling/admission at Jadavpur
University) that s/he will be de-registering from that course. Proof of application of
de-registration/cancellation from the course concerned must be submitted within
August 30, 2019, failing of which her/his admission will be cancelled.
SC/ ST/ OBC-A/OBC-B/Permanently Disabled quota as per rules.
No separate intimation will be sent to individual candidates.
Candidates are to take admission in one subject only, even if their names appear in more
than one list. He/she will be permitted to transfer to another subject if his/her turn comes
in the merit order.
If a candidate fails to appear on the specified date and at the specified time for
admission, the next candidate in order of merit will be considered for admission.
Candidates will be required to bring the following documents at the time of
counselling/admission:
A) A print out of the on-line application.
B) 3 (three) recent passport size photographs.
C) Online SBI-Collect payment receipt.
D) All original marksheets, certificates including SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/P.D
certificates from competent authorities in the names of the candidates
themselves where applicable, are to be shown at the time of interview for
verification.
E) The Madhyamik Admit Card/Certificate (for age verification).
F) attested copies of all marksheets, certificates, Madhyamik Admit
Card/Certificate (for age verification) are to be sumitted at the time of
admission.

(G) A certificate in the letter head of the university/institution/department that their
M.A/ M.Sc Final Examination has been completed. For prescribed format (click

(H)If the provisionally selected candidate has completed his/her Master’s Degree
or equivalent in 2018 or before: An affidavit that he/she is not registered in
any other day-course anywhere/elsewhere
(I) If the provisionally selected candidate is pursuing any other full-time regular
day-course or its equivalent in another college/university: an affidavit that
s/he will be de-registering from that day-course
(J) Parents/Guardian's income certificate issued by the employer with office seal
for the employed person and for others by competent authority.
(K)For Employed candidates, a No Objection Certificate from the present
employer (authorised official competent to issue such certifate) stating that
the employer has no objection in pursuing 2-year M.Phil course.

Note:
1. As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89-
SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and letter No.1510-SCW dt.31/05/2007 from the
Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes of the states other
than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational
institutions in West Bengal, unless they can produce a domicile certificate of 10-year
residency issued by competent authority.
2. Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under
PD category under RPD Act, 2016.
3. The candidates who will be provisionally selected under the OBC- A and OBC- B
categories must produce an OBC certificate (the date of issue of the certificate
should not be earlier than June 2018) issued by the competent authority that clearly
indicates (i) the category (A or B) they belong to; (ii) that they do not belong to
creamy layer of the society, at the time of counselling/ admission.

4. OBC-A and OBC-B candidates of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled
to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal, unless
they can produce a domicile certificate of 10-year residency issued by competent
authority.
XIII. Counselling Process:
Names of candidates in the waiting lists will be called on 31/10/2019 at 12
noon. If any candidate fails to turn up when his/her name is called the
seat will be offered to the next candidate in the merit list and that
candidate shall NOT be allowed to take admission to this course later. The
process will continue till the seats are filled up. The rest of the candidates
are advised to record their attendance.
Jadavpur University has accepted in principle that each and every student of the university
shall be duty bound during the entire period of studentship with the university to
immediately report to the Dean of Students if any ragging is noticed either in university
hostel or on university campus.
If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned student shall
be given liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority
would expel him/her from the University.
Details of on-line submission of anti-ragging affidavit shall be made available
by the Head of the Department, at the time of counselling.
Print out of the anti-ragging affidavit submitted on-line by the student and
his/her parents must be submitted to the Head of the Department within 15
(fifteen) days from the commencement of classes.
