“Deforestation”
What is Deforestation? Deforestation, clearance, clear cutting or clearing is the
removal of a forest or stand of trees from land which is then converted to a non-forest use.
Deforestation can involve conversion of forest land to farms, ranches, or urban use. The
most concentrated deforestation occurs in tropical rainforests. About 31% of Earth's land
surface is covered by forests. Deforestation can occur for several reasons: trees can be cut
down to be used for building or sold as fuel (sometimes in the form of charcoal or timber),
while cleared land can be as pasture for livestock and plantation. The removal of trees
without sufficient reforestation has resulted in habitat damage, biodiversity loss, and aridity.
It has adverse impacts on bio sequestration of atmospheric carbon dioxide. Deforestation
has also been used in war to deprive the enemy of vital resources and cover for its forces.
According to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)
secretariat, the overwhelming direct cause of deforestation is agriculture. Subsistence
farming is responsible for 48% of deforestation; commercial agriculture is responsible for
32%; logging is responsible for 14%, and fuel wood removals make up 5%. Other causes of
contemporary deforestation may include corruption of government
institutions, the inequitable distribution of wealth and power, population
and overpopulation, and urbanization. Another cause of deforestation is climate change. 23%
of tree cover losses result from wildfires and climate change increase their frequency and power.
The rising temperatures cause massive wildfires especially in the Boreal forests. One possible
effect is the change of the forest composition. Trees are absolutely vital to life here on Earth,
but they are also being destroyed at an alarming rate. So many of the choices we make
throughout the day when we're shopping, eating, or even driving, are powered by
deforestation. Trees are cut and burned down for a number of reasons. Forests are logged
to supply timber for wood and paper products, and to clear land for crops, cattle, and
housing. Other causes of deforestation include mining and oil exploitation, urbanization, acid
rain and wildfires. And according to the United Nation's Food and Agriculture
Organization (FAO), the 33 million acres of forestland that are lost annually around the
globe are responsible for 20% of human-caused greenhouse gas emissions. Deforestation
also contributes toair and water pollution, a loss of biodiversity, erosion, and climatic
disruption. What is a good thing to do to prevent deforestation? Plant a tree, Go paperless,
Recycle and buy recycled products, Look for Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
certification on wood and wood products, Eat vegetarian meals as often as possible.

“Education at School and Socialization of the Personality”
School education is traditionally considered to be the necessary prerequisite of the
successful socialization of a personality. When going to school, children not only acquire
knowledge about the surrounding world but also go through a preparation stage for successful
adaptation to life in the modern world. It helps children learn how to organize their day,
communicate with peers, evaluate and assess themselves and others, and form a complex
system of ties with the surrounding world. However, all the points mentioned above can be
achieved without going to school. Attending any other type of children or teenage group activity
on a regular basis can provide equally beneficial results. Sports groups, ballet classes, a choir
or an art group will help a child develop basic communication skills and organization techniques.
Besides, they will also provide them with important skills and develop them culturally, physically,
and spiritually. At the same time, if combined with homeschooling, they can provide a good
alternative to school education. Learning at home alone or in a group of a few other students
under the supervision of a highly professional teacher who is focused entirely on the material
prepared for these very children can be much more effective. Moreover, such a form of
education can help protect children against the negative influence of the street, sometimes even
saving their lives. I admit that schools are important for socialization. However, our society is far
from being perfect, and schools are a bright reflection of all the existing problems.
