Reflection Paper: La Castilla

La Castilla is a museum which once served as their residence of the late

founders Liceo de Cagayan University. It builts in the 1960s, the museum located at the
corner of National Highway and RN Pelaez Boulevard was officially opened to the public
in 2007. The founders are Rodulfo Neri Pelaez and Elsa Pelaez. La castilla shows the
lifestyle of the Pelaez of the Pelaez family for the past four decades.

Firstly, I went inside La castilla it was so astonishing like I didn’t expect that it
was nice. That they say expect the unexpected. Like I’m just turning back time into 60s,
and I could nearly envision how noble society was in our nation back when the
Spaniards where in rule. The first thing I see is the antique mansion, the fountain, and
the beautiful garden. I nearly would not like to leave. I needed to simply remain there
also, set down on the grass and feel the breeze. A much needed refresher.

It was a simple house but it have the story of one’s life. By just seeing the
mansion we can see the thousand memories we can imagine. As we tour inside the
mansion lead of Sir Emmanuel Echem, and gave me a little look at the past. Its just
turning back in the past when we are colonized by the Spaniards. As we tour inside
there are so many chairs, chouches, and rooms. I see their collections, their family tree,
the dolls and statues. In the pink room, own by the daughter of Elsa Pelaez. We can
see how feminine she was to be. Specially the dolls, that teach them how to become
good mother in the future. The blue room, Rodulfo’s room. We can see his
achievements, frames and bunch of toys he collect. In the second floor, we can see
their balcony that can see the sunset in the river and rooms.

I learned in this tour not just the house but its family. Look how they are stong
and origin from the culture of the Philippines. They made the University next to their
house because in their minds there are people who can’t afford to go to college even if
they are smart and deserving. That the founder said “It made to the poor and deserving
students”. We should not waste the opportunity that they gave us. La Castilla is
dedicated to the conservation and preservation of the historical and cultural heritage
found in the personal memorabilia of the Founders of the Liceo de Cagayan University
and still an appreciation for them in the context of local history and culture.

Reflection Paper: Drugs and Anti- Terrorism

The symposium was held in Liceo de Cagayan Civic Center on October 10,
2019. The theme of the symposium was all about drugs and anti – terrorism. In the
morning, they tackle all about drugs. According to the statistics, Philippines are one of
the top 10 that using illegal drugs. Interest in drug abuse has recently increased in
Philippines, in particular with regard to certain aspects of the problem. It said the effects
of the drugs are losing the proper mindset, destroying your future, and make some
illegal doings. They said women that use drugs are selling their bodies just to have
some drugs, and men use drugs to become sexually active during an intercourse. They
showed some pictures, the high death rate among young drug-dependent persons and
the problems of the young drug-dependent woman and her child. Some of the students
are shocked because the youngest age of child using drugs are 4 years old. And
because of what happen they change the law, starting of the age of 13 the person can
go straight to jail. They tackle some laws about drugs that name RA 9165. The law
mandates the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) to be the policy- and strategy-making
body that plans and formulates programs on drug prevention and control. There are
sections that orderly arrange how the user of drug been punished. Some of sections
had punished in life imprisonment that will last 40 years. It's never too soon to start
talking to your teen about drug abuse. The conversations you have today can help your
teen make healthy choices in the future.

In the afternoon, the speakers taught us what are terrorism, anti – governments,
and activists. This are the people who want some equality in every persons in the
country but they don’t know what are the effects of their bad doings. They can lose
innocents life and damage the surroundings. There are some group of terrorist, they are
CPP–NPA–NDF. First of all, they indicate to us what are the purpose of this group and
how can they destroy our country. There are some victims of this rebellion groups that
are forcedly recruit and can’t get out. This rebellion groups recruits specially the
students that are top in class and smart, that can handle groups, and maintain the spirit
of being leader of everyone. Jose Maria C. Sison is the founder of this groups, he
recruited students but he can’t recruit her daughter because even himself know the
effects and he knows that it is bad and failed groups. Sison have good life in
Netherlands and make his life precious, but the member of activists are struggling in
their foods and shelter. This groups are symbolizes that plague in this society. We
should not deceived on their sweet words able us to join. We should have an outlook in
our life that we can be successful persons in the future and holding our titles, not in
protest and become activists.
