MEXICAN LEGEND: “LA LLORONA”

La llorona it is said to be one of the most famous legends from Mexico, but what it’s the
story? We’ll see it.
La llorona is a woman who wander around for streets in Mexico searching her kids killed
by herself during one night, and when she realized what she had done it, she cried while
shouting “Ay mis hijos”.
There are many versions, however, this is the famous one, it is based on Bernal Diaz del
Castillo Chronicles.
There was some time ago, an indigenous woman who had a romance with a Spanish knight,
they were in love so hard that they had three children.
The days were passing away while they were through lies and darkness in their
relationship, hiding from the people. The woman realized that her kids needed a Father
figure, she decided it was time to get his relationship formalized.
She had been insisted on getting married, but he always said that it wasn’t necessary;
nevertheless, he got married days after, with a Spanish woman from a high society, when
the woman found out, she drove out crazy, she went to her house, and took her kids to a
river, and she were drowning out her kids as she cried for losing his love; After that she
finally killed herself.
Since these day she had been wander around screaming and crying, looking for her beloved
kids.
