Assertive communication is a key trait of a leader & helps a manager turn into a leader as it is empowering
in nature due to the following 3 aspects:
1. Self-Motivation: As discussed above Assertive communication leads to self motivation.
2. Motivator: Since the manager himself is goal oriented & highly motivated to achieve those goals he
has a capability to motivate his colleagues & push them towards perfection, effectiveness &
efficiency.
3. Transformational Change: An assertive manager is oriented towards bringing about better changes
which work as building blocks that will be useful in achieving the vision of the manager & though
these changes, he propagates energy in the team.
One of the key factors here is sound communication skills. A person who has superb communication skills
& assertiveness in nature will be taking a leadership position & his influence is widely felt within the
organization as well as outside it.
