Syllabus and Exam Pattern of NDEB Exams
Test 1: Assessment of Clinical Knowledge/Judgement
A candidate is required to secure a minimum equated score of 75 or higher in the
Fundamental Assessment Test.
Course & Content for Clinical Judgement
The Assessment comprises 3 books to be given in a single session. Breaks will be
present between the different sessions.
Books 1A and 1B
This is based on Diagnosis, Treatment Planning and Clinical Decision Making. This
extended match Multiple-Choice Assessment is meant to assess the candidate’s
competence to formulate a diagnosis and reach upon Clinical Decisions.
In this, participant is provided with Case Histories, Dental Charts and Photographs for
patients of All Ages including those with special needs.
Book 2
This book is based on Radio-Graphic Interpretation. Using prints of Radiograph, this
extended match Multiple-Choice Assessment is meant to assess the participant’s
awareness of Oral Radiology and competence to arrive at a Radio-Graphic
Interpretation and Diagnosis.
Test 2: Assessment of Clinical Skills
This is conducted over a 2 day session wherein participants will be assessed based on
their performance of dental procedures on Simulated Patients.
Here are some items which you are going to receive each day:
A typodont with a label of your Id number mounted in a manikin or a Dental chair
A list of Teeth for Practice procedures
An in-depth list of required Procedures with details of Tooth Numbers and Surfaces

Evaluation of Participants

Test 3: Written Examination

It comprises two books each with 150 MCQs. The time span for taking each book is 150
Minutes.

Test 4: Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)
It is a Station Type Exam comprising two sessions conducted on same day. Majority of
the stations will comprise 2 questions and participants would be required to go through
the Information supplied and respond to extended match type questions.
Each extended match type question will comprise up to 15 alternatives with one or more
correct answers.
