REFLECTION PAPER

From my understanding to the Data Privacy Act if 2012 (RA 10173) is that this

republic act protects individuals from having their privacy being violated by other individuals who

are trying to gain access from their accounts. This also makes the people feel safe from having

their integrity, availability and confidentiality from being spread throughout the world. Imagine

having your personal data from the company being leaked and everyone from the company saw

what you don’t want them to see for instance: race, ethnic origin, marital status, age, color, and

religious, philosophical or political affiliations, social security number, health, education, and

more; wouldn’t that make you feel embarrassed and at the same time angry because it was leaked?

It will and it’ll feel like you have been disrespected as a person.

From what I read on the web about RA 10173, it tells us that “when you are sharing data,

the shared data should be covered by an agreement that provides adequate safeguards for the rights

of data subjects, and that these agreements are subject to review by the National Privacy

Commission or NPC.” Now, this tells us that when you share your data to the company you are

applying, they should also provide an agreement so that both party’s data privacy will be protected

and if ever been violated, they will sue the other party for violating their privacy.

In conclusion, each and every one of us should protect each individual who shared their

data towards us and respect them as a human being.
