The Effectiveness of Welcome Plant (Zamioculas Zamiifolia) Leaf Extract Against Golden Kuhol

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of leaf extract from the Welcome plant (Zamioculas zamiifolia) against Golden kuhol. The researchers will prepare extracts of different concentrations from the plant's leaves to test on Golden kuhol. They hypothesize that the 100% concentration extract will be most effective at killing the kuhol. The kuhol will be exposed to one of six treatments - four different extract concentrations, a positive control pesticide, and a negative control of water. Deaths will be counted 30 minutes after each treatment. Statistical analysis using ANOVA will then determine if the treatments caused significantly different mortality rates.

The Effectiveness of Welcome Plant (Zamioculas zamiifolia) Leaf Extract against Golden Kuhol.

General Problem:

This study will be conducted to determine the effectiveness of Welcome plant

(Zamioculas zamiifolia) leaf extract against Golden Kuhol.

Specifically, it will seek to answer the following questions:

1. How effective is the Welcome plant leaf extract in killing Golden kuhol?

2. What is the most effective concentrations of Welcome plant leaf extract in terms

of the number of dead Golden kuhol?

3. . Is there a significant difference between and among the treatment used in terms

of the number of dead Golden kuhol?

Hypothesis:

1. The Welcome plant leaf extract is effective in killing Golden kuhol.

2. 100% extract is the most effective concentration of Welcome plant leaf extract in

terms of the number of dead Golden kuhol.

3. There is a significant difference between and among the treatments in terms of

the number of dead Golden kuhol.

I. Preparation of the Welcome plant leaf extract:

Five (5) kg of Welcome plant (Zamioculas zamiifolia) leaves will be gathered

from Barangay Teppeng, Sinait, Ilocos Sur. The Welcome plant (Zamioculas

zamiifolia) leaves will be washed with tap water and chopped into small pieces

using a knife. Then the chopped Welcome plant leaves will be blended then will
be filtered to extract the juice and the juice to be obtained will be placed in clean

container.

II. Preparation of Treatments

Six treatments will be prepared based from the following concentrations of

Welcome plant (Zamioculas zamiifolia) leaf extract as follows:

Treatment 1: 100% Welcome plant (Zamioculas zamiifolia) leaf extract

Treatment 2: 75% extract (75 ml extract and 25 ml distilled water)

Treatment 3: 50% extract (50 ml extract and 50 ml distilled water)

Treatment 4: 25% extract (25 ml extract and 75 ml distilled water)

Treatment 5: Positive control (Commercial Pesticide)

Treatment 6: Negative control (Distilled Water)

III. Preparation of the Test Organism

One hundred-eighty (180) Golden kuhol will be collected from Barangay

Purag, Sinait, Ilocos Sur and this will be kept on a pail of tap water. The Golden

kuhol will be classified according to their sizes. One hundred-eighty Golden

kuhols of the same sizes will be divided into six and placed into eighteen separate

containers each with 10 Golden kuhol and 5L of tap water.

IV. Treatment Application

The Welcome plant (Zamioculas zamiifolia) leaf extract will be tested to one

hundred-eighty Golden kuhol into six treatments in three replicates. One hour

after placing the Golden kuhol in each container, 70 ml of each concentration will
be placed in each treatment. Observation will be done in 30 minutes to determine

the death of the Golden kuhol.

V. Number of dead Golden Kuhol will be counted thirty (30) minutes after treatment.

VI. Static Analysis

The data to be gathered will be summarized in a table and analyzed using

ANOVA. Likewise, graphical representation will be used for further analysis.
