The Philippine Red Cross (PRC)
It is an independent and autonomous non-government organization tasked to help the Philippine
government in the humanitarian field and to adhere to the obligations of the Philippines to the Geneva
Conventions and International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movements.The Red Cross is an international
organization which helps people during disasters and calamities. Before World War II, the PNRC was a
mere branch of the United States Red Cross.

On April 15, 1947, the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) was established by virtue of Republic Act No.
95. Dona Aurora Aragon Quezon, wife of Commonwealth President Manuel L. Quezon, became its first
president.
The Red Cross roots traced back to the revolutionary days when Apolinario Mabini encouraged the
Malolos Republic to form a national Red Cross organization. On February 17, 1899, the Malolos Republic
approved the Constitution of the National Association of the Red Cross.
The purposes of the Red Cross are as follows[2]:
To cooperate with public authorities in the prevention of disease, promotion of health and the mitigation
of human suffering through programs administered by the Philippine Red Cross;
To organize emergency relief operations and other such services to aid the sick and wounded of the
armed forces in time of armed conflict;
To perform all duties devolving upon the Philippine Red Cross as a result of the adherence of the
Republic of the Philippines to the Geneva Convention;
To act in matters of voluntary relief and of communication between the Republic of the Philippines and
their Armed Forces, and between other countries, their Governments and people, and the Armed Forced
of the Republic of the Philippines.
To establish and maintain a system of national and international relief in times of calamities.
To devise and promote services as may be found desirable in improving the health, safety and welfare of
the people; and
To devise such means to make every citizen and/or resident of the Philippines a member of the
Philippine Red Cross.
Sangguniang Kabataan (SK)
SK and Katipunan ng Kabataan (KK) were created through the Local Government Code of 1991
(Republic Act 7160) that provides opportunity for young people to directly participate in local
governance;
Composed of all youth aged 15 to 21-year-olds;
It was Founded in
1975. Preceded by
Kabataang Barangay.
Under RA 7160, the main purpose of the SK are to promulgate resolutions necessary to carry out the
objectives of the youth in the barangay; to initiate programs designed to enhance the social, political,
economic, cultural, spiritual a physical development of the members; and to conduct fund-raising
activities.
The Philippine Department of Health (abbreviated as DOH; Filipino: Kagawaran ng Kalusugan) is the
executive department of the Philippine government responsible for ensuring access to basic public
health services by all Filipinos through the provision of quality health care and the regulation of all
health services and products. It is the government's over-all technical authority on health.[2] It has its
headquarters at the San Lazaro Compound, along Rizal Avenue in Manila.

The purpose of this Board of Health was to care for injured American troops but as the hostilities
between Filipinos and Americans waned in 1901, a civilian Board of Health was now deemed appropriate
with Dr. L. M. Maus as the first health commissioner.
