News from the Library
The New Book Sale is Coming Soon! TUESDAY, December 10- TUESDAY, December 17
This is a fun event for the students that supports updating and expanding our book collection. During your child's
regular library time, they will be offered the chance to either buy books, or create a wish list to bring home to discuss
what books they would like to buy. We will also have teacher wish lists so that classrooms can get even more books
all while supporting the Library! There is NO OBLIGATION to purchase and we also ask students to make
recommendations of books they would like us to purchase for the Library with the funds raised. Students who make
suggestions for Library purchases are entered into a raffle to win a book or other item from the Sale. If you do send
in money or a check (payable to Bishop PTO) during the week, please make sure that it is in an envelope or Ziplock
with your child's name on it.
The Sale will be open during the day on Tuesday, December 10, from 11-3:00p* (please note Tuesday is an early
release day for conferences but the sale will remain open), Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8-3:00p,
Monday 12/16 from 8-3:00p and again on Tuesday 12/17 from 8-10a. This year we are also opening the Sale during
the evening conferences hours on Thursday, December 13th from 6:00-8:00PM! Please come with (or without!) your
children to support the Library and do some holiday shopping!
Please use this link to sign up to help out during the Sale, and to see the time of your child's library class. We
especially need help with K-2 classes, and at the start and end of after school when things can get pretty busy, so
please consider combining a little holiday/window shopping with your good deed for the day! We are dependent
upon volunteers to make the Sale a success!
Thanks so much and we look forward to seeing you soon,
Alison Vaishnaw and Justine Bloch

501(c)(3) Status Update
We have received an official letter from the IRS reinstating our status as a nonprofit. We are exempt from
federal income tax under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c)(3). Our effective date of exemption is
retroactive to our date of revocation.
Although the systems used by company match programs may still need some time to reflect our status, the
donors should be all set to submit requests for their Matching Program contributions.
Thank you,
PTO Board
Bishop Holiday Help 2019
The Bishop community once again has the opportunity to participate in Holiday Help, an initiative organized
by the town of Arlington to brighten the holidays of local families in need.
Please visit the Holiday Help SignUpGenius at
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409084FA9AD2CA75-bishop where you can review the gifts that have
been requested and volunteer to contribute. The number in parentheses is the quantity requested. Please
bring unwrapped gifts to the Bishop office by December 9th. Please contact Lori Reck for more information.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity!
Winter Gear For Bishop Recess Closet
Getting ready for winter by sorting through your children's winter gear? If you have jackets, snow pants,
boots, hats, gloves, or other warm clothing that are too small for your children, consider donating them to the
Bishop Recess Closet. This closet provides all Bishop students with clean, dry, and warm clothing so that
they can play comfortably on the playground and do their best learning in the classroom. Donations of clean
clothing items may be dropped off at Ms. Bell's classroom or left in the main office for Ms. Bell to pick up.
Thank you in advance!

Calling Student Crafters - As always we would like to invite our 4th and 5th

scrunchies, hair accessories, scarves, and other handcrafted items. Students
interested in having their own table can contact Jen Davidson-Jardeleza for more
information.
Join us for a night out for kids and adults, do a little holiday shopping, and get in the
