G11-ICT Computer Literacy Insights

This summary covers the key conclusions and recommendations from a study on the percentage rate of computer literacy among G11-ICT students at Lamian National High School. The study found that most students were very literate in basic computer skills, hardware usage, and software applications like Word and PowerPoint. However, some students lacked literacy in spreadsheet and multimedia applications. The researchers recommended that teachers focus on teaching these skills and that students study computer classes attentively to maintain and improve their literacy.

CHAPTER V

Conclusions and Recommendations

This chapter summarizes the conclusions and recommendations emanating

from this study. It begins by looking at a summary of the initial aims and objectives
and a synopsis of the literature findings. It then includes a brief discussion
presented according to each of the main research questions followed by the
outcomes of this study. The lessons learned, the strengths, the weaknesses and
the special contributions of this study are covered in this section. it concludes with
a list of recommendations.

Summary

The research topic for this study is:

Percentage Rate of Computer Literacy Among G11-ICT Students of

Lamian National High School, School Year 2019-2020

Being computer literate gives the learner an opportunity to excel in rapidly

changing environment in technology. As today’s society is becoming more and
more dependent on new technology, increasing attention is given to computer
literacy. Today, computer play a big role in education especially in developing
countries like the Philippines. Perhaps computer literacy may improve the
knowledge and ability of students for higher academic performance. The
occurrence of computer literacy continuous to grow at an outstanding rate.

According to the research we conducted in G11-ICT students through

questionnaires, mostly of the students are very literate when it comes to basic
computer skills. Just few of them are not literate. The study revealed that students
from Lamian National High School especially G11-ICT students are actively
participating in computer classes that makes them very literate in using computer
hardware and software applications.

The percentage rate of computer literacy of the respondents were

adequate. Most of them were very literate, some are slightly literate while few are
not literate. Some respondents were therefore unable to effectively utilise the
learning opportunities associated with computer assisted instruction. There
appears to be a need for computer literacy training. It is therefore apparent to
improve the computer literacy of the learners at the college.

Conclusion

The study concludes that the students are very literate when it comes to
basic computer skills. The percentage rate of computer literacy of G11-ICT are
very high. Mostly of the respondents answered very literate which prove the high
percentage rate of their computer literacy .

It shows that almost of the students has the ability to do task using computer
very literately. They can easily manipulate computer basic skills like using
assembling and disassembling computer hardware which is one of the important
skill they should know. They are also expert and very literate in using computer
software applications such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint Presentation which
is helpful in their academic activities like project and research making.

It appears that they are quick in learning computer skills. The teacher also
teaches the students very well that their students are listening attentively in their
discussion towards their subjects that deals with computer literacy.
Recommendations

1. Teacher should focus on teaching the studends about computer skills specially
in using Spreadsheet and Multimedia Applications.

According to the findings in table 1, 8% of the respondents are not literate

in using spreadsheet application and using multimedia application. As a researcher
we must recommend that they should study hard in this sector of computer literacy.
The teacher should pay more attention in teaching this kind of computer skill.
Because this skill would be helpful to the students when the time comes that they
are working especially jobs that uses computer. Mostly of the respondents are very
literate in using computer especially in basic skills but we still recommend that they
must study hard too and the teachers must keep teaching their students in using
computer, both hardware and software application.

2. Students should focus in their studies especially in computer classes.

As a learner, enable to be literate in computer they should focus and pay

more attention in their classes. They should listen carefully to what their teacher is
discussing. The research shows that the respondents are very literate but it is
important to maintain their knowledge and keep improving it.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

First and foremost, We would like to thank God Almighty for giving us the
strength, knowledge, ability and undertake this research study and to persevere
and complete it satisfactory. Without his blessing, this achievement would not have
been possible.

In our journey towards this degree, we have found a teacher, a role model
and a pillar of support in our guide, Mrs. Jeselyn R. Ferrer, Grade 12 ICT Adviser
and Practical Research II Teacher. She has been there providing her heartfelt
support and guidance at all times. Without her able guidance, this research would
not have been possible and we shall eternally be grateful to her for her assistance.

We take pride in acknowledging the insightful guidance of Mr. Rexcel V.

Samulde, Grade 11 ICT Adviser and Practical Research I Teacher, for sparing
his valuable time whenever we approached him and showing us the way ahead.

We would also like to give thanks to the respondents which is the G11-ICT
students who gave their precious time in answering our questionnaires for us to
complete our research.

Our acknowledgement would be incomplete without thanking the biggest

source of our strength, our family. The blessing of our parents, and the care and
help of our brothers and sisters. And also to our loved ones and friends whose
always there giving us inspirations and encourages us for us to finish this research.
They have all made a tremendous contribution in helping us reach this stage in our
lives. We thank them for putting up with us in difficult moments where we felt
stumped and for goading us on to follow our dreams of getting this degree. This
would not have been possible without their unwavering and unselfish love and
support given to us at all times.

We are so grateful and thankful to all of you. We love you all !
