Region VII – Cebu City

Cultural Basilica del Santo Nino


The oldest Catholic Church in the Philippines is located right here in Cebu! “Mercy
and Passion” are the tenets of Basilica del Santo Nino, founded in 1565, which still
bring many locals here to worship on a daily basis. This Catholic Church holds a
regular mass where families and children come to show their faith.

Natural Jumalon Butterfly Sanctuary


Nature lovers come hither! There is a butterfly sanctuary in Cebu where you can
walk through a mini rainforest teeming with tropical plants and flowers with
beautiful butterflies fluttering all around. Keep your camera out just in case one
decides to land on your nose for a selfie. The Jumalon Butterfly Sanctuary has an
impressive collection of butterfly specimen encased in glass that shows just how
diverse the buttery fly family truly is

Historical 1730 Jesuit House


You wouldn’t expect such a memorable experience to begin in a hardware store,
but it will. Stepping inside the 1730 Jesuit House feels like stepping 100 years
back through history.1730 Jesuit House is a local project that aims to preserve
one of Cebu’s historic sites. This ancient house has survived typhoons,
earthquakes, and foreign invasions, yet still stands to tell the tale

Region VIII – Western Samar

Natural Bangon Falls Bangon Falls or locally known as Bugtong Falls has an estimated height of
about 60 meters. It is actually a system of cascades, which you need to walk along the cascades
themselves to get to the first tier of the Falls or the main Falls. The track leading to the falls can be really
slippery, especially during raining season. Hence, you have to be very extra careful in your ascent. The
first level of Bangon Falls has a circular catching basin of approximately 30 meters in diameter, which is
really good for swimming and deep enough if you choose to dive.

Cultural Sarakiki-Hadang
Festival is celebrated in Calbayog City, Western Samar during the primary seven day stretch of
September. It is featured with an introduction of road artists dressed like chickens and doing their
chicken's romance movements.

Historical Samar Archaeological Museum


Is a small but very interesting Museum with the story off a priest in Samar. It includes old books,
ceramics, bones and parts of the old Calbayog cathedral.

Man made San Juanico Bridge


San Juanico Bridge or Marcos Bridge is part of the Pan-Philippine Highway and stretches from
Samar to Leyte across the San Juanico Bridge

Special Interest Water Rafting


Rafting and white water rafting are recreational outdoor activities which use an inflatable raft to
navigate a river or other body of water. This is often done on Whitewater or different degrees of

downtown at the Santa Cruz Bank in the Basilan Strait, boasts the only pink sand beach in the
Philippines

Zamboanga Cathedral, is a church located in Zamboanga City, Philippines. It is the seat of the

Historical Fort Pillar

Man made Pasonanca Park


Construction of the park was started in 1912 by General John J. Pershing, Governor of the Moro
Province, and completed during the administration of the Frank W. Carpenter, Governor of the
Department of Mindanao and Sulu (1914-1920). Thomas Hanley, a parksman, arrived in 1912
from the United States at the request of Pershing to serve the same post at Pasonanca, and
was responsible for the original lay-out of the park.
The park also has a separate campsites for males and females, an amphitheatre, and a
convention center, among other facilities.

photographs and even furnishing of old sultans' homes.
