                                            Abstract
Poetry is an art form in which human language is used for its aesthetic qualities in addition to,
or instead of, its notional and semantic content (poetry.org, 2005). Anyone can produce their
own poems, but there are those people who does it for a living or formally publishes their works
and they’re called poets. A poet is defined by the Merriam-Webster (n.d.) as one (such as a
creative artist) of great imaginative and expressive capabilities and special sensitivity to the
medium. In the 21st of December, 1953, Hagonoy Bulacan has been a witness to the birth of
one of their prides, a well-known poet named Tomas F. Agulto. He wrote poems at a young
age and had them commented on by his family and neighbors. He further honed his poetic skills
as a member Galian as Arte at Tula , and went on to work on various jobs, especially in non-
government sector, in pursuit of his own maturity (Panitikan, 2013).
This is the topic you’ll learn more about the rural life know as the grassroots culture, folk
wisdom and values, especially in their progressive expressions and manifestations, that will
always be part of our nationalist and transformative projects.
And I think it is time that we shift our emphasis from the traditional intellectuals of the academe
to the generic, mostly self-taught writers and intellectuals who may have deeper insights to
share on Philippine life.
And to know much more about the legacy of the authors in the region III especially Tomas F.

Philippine literature is the body of works, both oral and written, that Filipinos, whether
native, naturalize, or foreign born, have created about the experience of people living in or
                                   relating to Philippine society.
