8 Prerequisites

Protective Measures 1.2

• Observe the safety information described in Register 2 of the System Binder (yellow
spine label).
• Prior to performing any activity in the generator, switch it off at the power OFF switch on
the generator console.
• To switch power off to all parts of the system (generator and connected components),
set the system switch to the OFF position.

WARNING High voltage! Disregarding safety precautions can result in death

or serious bodily injury from electric shock.
¹ The unit may be operated only by qualified personnel who
are familiar with the operating instructions and, in partic-
ular, who observe the warning notes.

WARNING Disregarding safety precautions can result in death or serious

bodily injury from electric shock.
¹ If the energy storage option (ESU) is configured, it must
be disconnected from the generator by the ESUI SW1 and
SW2 switches(Fig. 4 / p. 6) to cut off power from the gen-
erator and the energy storage unit. However, there are
still approx. 600 VDC battery voltage present in the
energy storage cabinet!
¹ Secure the SW2 switch in the energy storage cabinet
against switching it back on (Fig. 4 / p. 6). To do this, slid
the square white sleeve (1/Fig. 5 / p. 9) back and secure it
with a lock (2/Fig. 5 / p. 9). Then perform a measurement
to ensure that the generator is cut off from power; to do
this, measure at the:
¹ DC battery output voltage (+/-) at the power connection of
the energy storage cabinet (6/Fig. 6 / p. 9).
¹ 400 V AC output voltage (13/14) at the power connection
of the energy storage cabinet (2/Fig. 6 / p. 9).

pallet.
• Mark the 4 mounting holes (3/Fig. 7 / p. 10) for the generator cabinet using the card-
board template included in the shipment. The cardboard template is on the generator
cabinet.
• Drill the holes and insert the screw anchors included in the shipment.
• Loosen the four screws on the transport safety device (3, 4/Fig. 8 / p. 10) and remove
the transport safety device.
• Remove the wooden transport safety device (5/Fig. 8 / p. 10).
• Secure the generator cabinet in place with the 4 hex screws.
• Loosen the two screws on the shielding plate (1/Fig. 8 / p. 10) and unhook the shield-
ing plate on the left side (2/Fig. 8 / p. 10).
• Reposition the clamp (6/Fig. 8 / p. 10) for the power cable from (6/Fig. 8 / p. 10) to

NOTE The control and power cables to the power cabinet are:
- led into the ESU cabinet through a cable duct from below
- or from the side (left or right) after removing one of the per-
forated knockouts.
- or inserted from the back after cutting open the back wall in
the power cabinet.
After removing the knockouts, place on edge trim from the acces-
sory pack. The back wall can be stabilized from the inside through
the holes by using the sheet metal screws and washers included in
the shipment (X/Fig. 7 / p. 10).

- led into the ESU cabinet through a cable duct from below
- or from the side (left or right) after removing one of the per-
forated knockouts.
After removing the knockouts, place on edge trim from the acces-

Connecting the Transformers 0

NOTE Depending on the power input voltage, connect the TF1 and TF2
transformers, see the Wiring Diagram and the description on the
transformer:
The F1 fuse also depends on the power input voltage:
- For 230 V and 208 V = 10A fuses
- For 110 V = 20 A fuses
Mark the power line connection voltage on the label (side cover
panel, in the vicinity of the model plate).

Ground Wire Test
4Final Work Steps

Fig. 33: Fig. 34:

Checking for Inadmissible Ground Loops 0

• Test procedure
1. Remove the nut on the grounding point (1/Fig. 33 / p. 32) (1/Fig. 34 / p. 32) and discon-
nect the W592 ground cable and the W593/D500_X2 cable from the grounding point:
- Use the multimeter to measure the resistance between the removed W592 ground
cable and the pin of the grounding point; it must be approx. 31 kOhm.
2. In addition, unplug the data sensing cable from D500_W523 (X14).
- Use the multimeter to measure the resistance between the removed W592/Gnd
ground cable and the pin of the grounding point; it must now be > 200 kOhm.
• After completing the check of the ground wires, Place the D500_W523 (X14) cable
back on and reconnect the W592 and the W593 cables.
