Violet Waffles

Skills required Gauge


Knit and purl stitches 22 stitches = 4" (10 cm)
Knitting in the round Size
Decrease 18” unstretched circumference
Yarn 9" (24 cm) measured from crown to base
2 x 50g skeins dk weight yarn [I used Drops Abbreviations
Karisma] DPN(s) Double pointed needle(s)
Needles K knit
16" circular needle in size 3,5 mm (US 4) and size 4 P purl
mm (US 6) + 5 DPNs in size 4 mm (US 6) rnd(s) round(s)
or the needle sizes needed to obtain gauge st(s) stitch(es)
Tapestry needle rpt repeat
K2tog knit 2 sts together [1 st decreased]
P2tog purl 2 sts together [1 st decreased]

Pattern
1. On smaller circular needles CO 108 sts. Join in the rnd, being careful not to
twist sts. Work K2, P2 ribbing until work measures 2,2" (5,5 cm).
2. Switch to larger circular needles and start waffle stitch pattern:
Rnd 1 & 2: K all sts
Rnd 3 & 4: *K2, P2*; rpt *-* to end of rnd
Continue to work the waffle stitch pattern until work measures 7,5" (19 cm)
measuring from the edge. Make sure that you end on rnd 2.
3. Divide sts on 4 DPNs, 27 sts on each needle. Start decrease:
Rnd 1: *K2tog, P2*; rpt *-* to end of rnd
Rnd 2: *K1, P2*; rpt *-* to end of rnd
Rnd 3: K all sts
Rnd 4: *K1, P2tog*; rpt *-* to end of rnd
Rnd 5: *K1, P1*; rpt *-* to end of rnd
Rnd 6: K2tog to end of rnd
Rnd 7: *K1, P1*; rpt *-* to end of rnd
Rnd 8: K2tog to end of rnd
Rnd 9: K all sts
Rnd 9: K2tog to end of rnd
Cut yarn, leaving 5-6" tail and draw it through remaining sts, closing the top
tightly.
4. Weave in ends using tapestry needle. Block gently.
