The way we can not be a victim of Medical Identity Theft is keeping your social security

card, medical care, and demographic information in a safe place. Also, when giving out your

information to a healthcare facility be discrete when sharing your information. Healthcare

Organizations should be interested in financial theft because the theft may use the victim

information to receive free healthcare by using their financial information to pay for the visit.

The victim may be impacted in their medical care based on the theft being treated under their

name. Adding false health information to their record that may affect them when being treated by

their physician or an emergency.
