TITLE OF PROJECT : BACKWATER RESORT AND ADVENTURE SPORTS ZONE, KAPPIL
BRIEF INTRODUCTION/ BACKGROUND OF PROJECT :
A resort is a place used for relaxation or recreation, attracting visitors for tourism. It is used for self-
contained commercial establishment which attempts to provide for most of a vacationer’s wants ie, food,
drinks, lodging, sports, entertainment, shopping and other services. Kappil is a small village in Varkala and is
well connected by rail and road to Trivandrum. The beach at Kappil is not as frequented by tourists as the
Varkala beach. So this context provides for a private area for a tourist resort. This project will also help boost
tourism and help in the development of the village.
AIM :
Aim of the thesis is to design a backwater resort with adventure sports zone in Kappil.

OBJECTIVES :
To analyze the site, study the topography and the climatic conditions.
Make analytical study of the functional requirements of resort and implement efficient design to
carry out the functions smoothly.
To study about spatial organization and areal need of resort programs.
Provide a recreational environment for the resort through varieties of facilities and functions.
Create an interactive ground for locals and visitors so that there may be interchange of ideas and
cultural demonstration.
SCOPE AND CHALLENGES :
To study different spaces of a resort and their interdependencies with each other and
interaction with nature.
Incorporation of local materials and design according to the local climate and topography
and enhance the aesthetics.
Design according to coastal regulations to protect the natural ecosystem.

BRIEF INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND :
With the increase in tourist flux in different parts of Kerala and specially Alleppey, lacks destinations to
support tourism demand. KTDC wanted to come up with a landmark destination which itself can be part of
tourism.
AIM :
To design a tourist beach resort in Alleppey.

TITLE OF PROJECT : A FIVE STAR HOTEL WITH A THEME PARK AT MAYEM, BICHOLIM, GOA
BRIEF INTRODUCTION/ BACKGROUND OF PROJECT : -
Goa is the smallest state in India spread over 3,702 sq.km with a beautiful coastline, lush forests, hospitable
people and a rich culture. A destination of choice for international (0.68 mn) and domestic tourists (5.65 mn)
in 2016. Permanent venue of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). 2016 saw an increase of approx.
19.5%1 in tourist arrivals due to various marketing initiatives, short break tourists and major events.
Therefore, the demand for star hotels and resorts is always there. This project is based on the proposal of
GTDC to design a three star or higher category hotel at Mayem Bicholim, Goa.
AIM : To design a five star hotel with a theme park at Mayem Bicholim, Goa.

GOA TOURISM DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
GTDC was established by the Government of Goa as an autonomous body in 1982 to look after commercial
tourism activities of the Government of Goa and develop tourism infrastructure. GTDC operates several
tourism hotels5 across Goa. They also have several land parcels which are to be utilized for developing
tourism infrastructure in Goa. GTDC is increasing its focus on its core activities and service mission while the
non-core activities are carries out via private partners. GTDC is the Concessioning Authority for this
transaction. The Project will be awarded through international competitive bidding following a singlestage
bidding process. This involves the submission of a Technical and Financial bid through the e-tendering portal
of the Government of Goa.

handicraft gift shops/museum etc.), nature park (Eco tourism lodging/ Natural trails/
Camping trails/ spiritual and wellness center etc.), Lake recreational and Adventure Park
including boating facilities around the lake and/or any additional facilities with the prior
approval of the Authority.

BRIEF INTRODUCTION/ BACKGROUND OF PROJECT :
Pune is a developing city in case of infrastructure and business. Soon it will be a big film hub like
Mumbai. Therefore there will be a demand for a larger media institute, even though there is
currently an institute.
AIM :
Aim of the thesis is to design a Film institute and mixed use village in Viman Nagar, Pune.

OBJECTIVES :
To study site topography, feasibility and accessibility.
To determine area requirements of various activities and functions required for film
institute.
To design in a way that there is maximum interaction among the students and between
students and faculty and also with local community.

A mixed-use film district with film school, film studios, commercial spaces related to movie.
Commercial side of complex containing theatres, film archives, film merchandise, retail, etc.
People from the local community brought in by providing outdoor film viewing spaces, multiple
plazas, food stalls etc.
