Miracle in Cell no. 7
One of the entry in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2019 is the local
adaptation of drama/comedy Korean movie "Miracle in Cell no. 7". It was directed by
Nuel Naval and starring Aga Mulach as Lito, Xia Vegar and Bella Padilla as Yesha. The
supporting actors are John Arcilla as Johnny San Juan, Joel Torre as Boss Soliman,
Soliman Cruz as Tatang Celso, JC Santos as Mambo and Allan Macababbad as Argus.
It was a great adaptation of the original version and I would rate is 10 out of 10.
The film revolves around Lito, a man who is mentally incapacitated and was
wrongly accused for murder and rape. Yesha his daughter is a huge fan of sailor moon
and she wanted to buy sailor moon bag but unfortunately the only bag available was
already sold to the daughter of a police commissioner. Then one day, the girl saw Lito
and she approach him that she knows where to buy the bag. Lito followed her since he
already saved a money. Unluckily the girl was in accident and died. After Lito saw what
happened, he quickly removed the button of the girl’s pants because that is what he
learn during his training in his work. Afterwards, he did a CPR. This leads Lito to be
falsely accused because there is someone who saw Lito in the incident, and that person
thought he is raping the kid. While Lito is in the cell no. 7 he met this group of people
who help him saw her daughter by sneak in Yesha into the prison. They are also the
people who help Lito what to say during the trial. At the end Lito was still sentenced to
death. Before he goes into the court the police comissioner beats him up and say if he
is found innocent his daugther will die, that's why Lito lied on the court and proven
guilty.
When it comes to the acting skills, all of the actors did a great job in portraying
their characters. Xia Vigor is really a great child actress, I can see a potential that she
can do more when she grow up. Even the supporting actors was really good, they made
the audience laugh in the whole movie. When it comes to videography it is also good.
The choices of the location was a good choice. Even the Sailor moon bag used was the
same in the korean movie. One things that I noticed the editing was quite not good but
overall the movie did a great job.
For me honestly speaking the adaptation was way better than the original movie.
It is full of emotions and the story really captures my heart that's why everyone leaves
the cinema crying. If I had the priviledge to watch it again I will definitely not hesitate to
grab the opportunity to watch this wonderful adaptation of Miracle in cell no. 7.
