Character design by Jeph Jacques

Materials:
• worsted weight yarn in purple for head and body and blue and pink for details (or any
colour and make your own ArachnoPC!)
• 4.25 mm (G/6) crochet hook
• stitch marker/scrap yarn to mark start of round
• polyfill
• tapestry needle
• Safety eyes – one pair 24 mm and one pair 6 mm

Abbreviations:
• MR – magic ring
• sc – single crochet
• inc – increase (2 sc in one)
• sc 2 tog – single crochet 2 together
• inv dec – invisible decrease (sc 2 tog in front loops only)
• ch – chain

Head (in purple):

1) MR, sc 6 (6)
2) inc around (12)
3) *sc 1, inc* around (18)
4) *sc 1, inc, sc 1* around (24)
5) *sc 3, inc* around (30)
6) *sc 2, inc, sc 2* around (36)
7) *sc 4, inc, sc 4* around (40)
8) *sc 9, inc* around (44)
9) sc 14, inc, sc 13, inc, sc 14, inc (47)
10) sc around (47)
11) sc around (47)
12) sc around (47)
13) sc 14, inv dec, sc 13, inv dec, sc 14, inv dec (44)
14) *sc 9, inv dec* around (40)
15) *sc 4, inv dec, sc 4* around (36)
16) *sc 2, inv dec, sc 2* around (30)
Place eyes: I put the 24 mm eye between rows 9 and 10 with 2 stitches visible between them and
the 6 mm eyes between rows 8 and 9 a stitch over from the edge of the large eye.
17) *sc 3, inv dec* around (24)
18) *sc 1, inv dec, sc 1* around (18)
Stuff.
19) *sc 1, inv dec* around (12)
20) inv dec around (6)
Finish off head.

Fangs (in blue, make 2):

1) MR, sc 6 (6)
2) inc, sc to end (7)
3) inc, sc to end (8)
4) inc, sc to end (9)
5) sc 4 (incomplete round). this makes one half slightly longer to fit better around the curve
of the face.
Fasten off and sew to head a row or two below the eyes.
Pedipalps (in pink, make 2)
1) MR, sc 6 (6)
2) inc around (12)
3) sc around (12)
4) sc around (12)
5) sc around (12)
6) *sc 3, inv dec* around (8)
Stuff. Draw opening closed.

To attach to head, use blue yarn to create two 5 sc foundation chains. Sew to pedipalps and head
at desired angles on either side of fangs with one stitch in between.

Legs (make 8 of each)

Segment 1 (in blue):

1) MR, sc 7 (7)
2) - 7) sc around (7)
Leave tail for sewing.
Segment 2 (in pink):
1) MR, sc 4 (4)
2) sc around (4)
3) inc, sc around (5)
4) inc, sc around (6)
5) - 7) sc around (6)
Leave tail for sewing.

Stuff with MR tail. Use fasten off tail to sew to the MR of segment 1. The spiral of the crochet
might create a bit of an angle to the MR of segment 1 and the end of segment 2 which you can
line up to create the bend in the leg. Tie off then pull the pink tail through the blue segment and
stuff with this tail and the MR tail. Use fasten off tail to sew leg to body.

The first pair of legs is attached 1 row from the pedipalps, one row higher on the head. Attach
the other legs next to these, leaving no space in between. The stitches of the next leg may
actually go into the previous leg. Keeping these close together ensures there will be space for the
body to attach.

Body (in purple):

1) MR, sc 6 (6)
2) inc around (12)
3) *sc 1, inc* around (18)
4) *sc 1, inc, sc 1* around (24)
5) *sc 3, inc* around (30)
6) *sc 2, inc, sc 2* around (36)
7) *sc 5, inc* around (42)
8) *sc 13, inc* around (45)
9) *sc 7, inc, sc 7* around (48)
10) *sc 15, inc* around (51)
11) sc around (51)
12) sc around (51)
13) sc around (51)
14) sc around (51)
15) *sc 15, inv dec* around (48)
16) *sc 7, inv dec, sc 7* around (45)
17) *sc 13, inv dec* around (42)
18) *sc 6, inv dec, sc 6* around (39)
19) *sc 11, inv dec* around (36)
20) *sc 5, inv dec, sc 5* around (33)
Stuff. Sew to back of head between legs at desired angle.
