To Whom it May Concern,

I am pleased to write a letter of recommendation for Shelby McIlravy. Shelby is a member of my kindergarten
professional learning community at the Postville Community School District. I met Shelby when she first started
teaching junior kindergarten in Postville in 2017. In the time I have known her, Shelby has always gone above
and beyond the requirements of her position to do what is best for her students.

Shelby is one of the best teachers in our school district. She is dedicated to the teaching profession and is
constantly looking to improve her lessons to engage her students at every level. She has an incredible ability to
differentiate her instruction to the needs of her students and to intervene with students who require additional
support. She collaborates daily with the kindergarten team, ESL co-teacher, and other staff within the building in
order to make data informed decisions that drive her instruction.

Shelby’s junior kindergarten classroom is the ideal classroom environment. The students are highly engaged,
intrigued, and excited about learning. Her enthusiasm and positive attitude has helped to instill a love for learning
in all of her students. She has studied and applied trauma informed practices in her classroom. The
environment is calm, caring, and welcoming. She works hard each year to establish positive relationships with
each of her students.

Shelby always maintains a professional and appropriate manner. She arrives at school prepared for the day
while also remaining flexible to adjust to the needs and abilities of her students. She strives to continually learn
and grow as an educator by participating in professional development opportunities. Shelby is currently working
to complete her Masters in Educational Leadership and she shares and applies her learning with the team
regularly. She exhibits valuable leadership qualities that any team would be lucky to have.

Shelby McIlravy is an extremely kind and considerate individual. She has been an outstanding teacher for our
school district and I know she will be for your school district as well.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Harman
Kindergarten Teacher
