IS Code 1731-1971

This document specifies dimensions, weights, and sectional areas of hot-rolled steel flats for structural and general engineering purposes according to Indian Standard IS: 1731-1971. It covers flats made from steel conforming to various IS specifications. Flats are designated by their width in mm followed by "ISF" and thickness in mm. The document then provides a table with available width and thickness combinations. It notes that weight is calculated based on steel weighing 7.85 kg/cm3 and flats over 160mm wide normally have round edges.
