3RD NETWORKINGr

This document contains a student's answers to an assignment questions for a networking course. The student provides answers to 6 questions related to domains, domain controllers, connecting PCs to domains, IP addressing, and super-netting. Some key details include the student describing Lovely Professional University's use of multiple domains for different services, their use of two domain controllers configured for high availability, and explanations of using VLANs and routers to connect networks with different IP address ranges.

Part A
Q1. Study and write the Domain plan of Lovely Professional University.

ANSWER: LPU.COM is the main domain of LPU( Lovely Professional University) it

is uses for different domain for other cable services for library internet services and
labs in different blocks and wi-fi services . in the case of library internet services,
we have domain LBSRV, in the LBSRV we got authorized and for labs, in the
series of different domain of LPU we have domains LPU-8 and so on. These
domains are unique for different users for specific uses. LPU.COM is uses for wi-fi
users and LPU.COM manages all validation and authentication for users in
LPU.COM.in the case of library server we use LBSRV server and the LBSRV
provides thin client services and authentication for library internet users. Library
domains are uses for lab`s computer and their software and policy measurement.
Q2. How many Domain controllers and additional domain controllers do we
have in Lovely Professional University and what is their hardware
configuration?

ANSWER: In case of domain controller we use two domain controllers in lovely

professional university. Both domain controller (active directory)are work in high
availability mode. These both domain controller works as load balancer. If in any
condition one goes down then another can take over on it. One domain controller
control 4lac session. They are of HP solutions with xeon processor dual compatible.
Both domain controller control large amounts of data for transaction and processing
. Because they are dual compatible so if any case we need to add one more
processor so we can add one more processor with it and they can work properly.

Q3. What would you prefer out of two situations? Installing DNS
integrated with DC or DNS separate to DC? Why?

ANSWER: when we are having two choice that we can install DNS in two way
integrated or separate then we can use approach that if we are having integrated
then we need not to add user again and again in to the DNS entry list, it can
automatically gain the users details for DC. But if we are having a large organization
then problem arises in integrity approach because of the load on the servers. So we
can use DNS as a separate server to maintain the load in to the server. All request
for the DNS server can be rotated to the different servers so that the main server do
not go slow.

Part B
Q4. If IP addresses of one series are exhausted and we start with a new
series then how do we make sure that both the networks communicate
with each other?

ANSWER: if IP address of one series is exhausted and we starts with a new series
then we use two different communication concept first is VLAN concept and
second one is Routing Information concept (Routers). In the case of VLAN concepts
we use switches these switches works like a router and they pass packet from one
network to another network so this type communicate to each other. They treat
another network as a virtual LAN network and make them communicative.

In the case of Router we use routing tables and using those tables we can
communicate in different network and these table collect the different type of
networks addresses and then it uses these addresses and then communicate to
each networks. We prefer to use VLANs over Routers because routers are costly and
maintenance is hard and complexity factor is also there. Switches are available to
low cost in the market and they are easy to configure and cheaper than routers.
Q5. How would you connect and PC to a Domain Controller?

ANSWER:

Here we connect and PC to a domain controller we fallow these steps ………….

Step1: : firstly we click the start button then click the all programs and then click
administrative tools then go the active directory users and computers.
Step 2: then go the users and right click then click the new and then click
the user ( new user).

Step 3: after that we give the information of the user you want to connect

1. First name

2. Last name

3. Full name

4. User logon name

5. User logon names ( pre- windows 2000)

6. Initials

Then click next.

Step 4: give the administrator password to the user then click next.
Step 5: confirmation here we check all the information are Wright or not
after that we click the finish button.
Step 6: go to the host computer and my computer properties (1) then
change settings then change (2) and then domain (your server domain
(3)).

Q6. What is super-netting? What is the practical use of it?

ANSWER: Super-netting is the Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR), is a way to

aggregate multiple Internet addresses of the same class. The IP addresses are
available in four major classes of address structure, Classes A through D.

 Class A begins 0 to 127

 Class B begins 128 to 191

 Class C begins 192 to 223

 Class D begins 224 to 239

Each class allocates one portion of the 32-bit Internet address format to a network
address and the remaining portion to the specific host machines within the network
In the case of super-netting, we use the network address 192.169.3.0/24 and an
adjacent address 192.169.4.0/24 can be merged into 192.169.3.0/23. The "23" at
the end of the address says that the first 23 bits are the network part of the
address, and the other nine bits for specific host addresses. Super-netting is most
often used to combine Class C network addresses and is the basis for most routing
protocols currently used on the Internet.
