SIX SIGMA GREEN BELT
The Green Belts are six sigma project leaders capable of forming and
facilitating six sigma teams. They manage six sigma projects from concept to
completion. They are capable of identifying problems and their solutions in a
company and leading projects that centre around these process improvements.
They also possess the working knowledge of efficiency and process
improvements.
Certification:
The council for Six Sigma certification (CSSC) offers Green Belt certification
in two steps:
i. The standard Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.
ii. The additional Green Belt II certification, for those who wish to further
prove their proficiency in this level of Six Sigma. But this cannot be
obtained without completing the basic Green Belt certification through
CSSC.
In US, the certification through CSSC is $119 and the additional Green Belt II
certification is $300 and the exam fee costs $295.
The certification exam has 100 questions for four hours.

SIX SIGMA BLACK BELT
Black Belts are the leaders of the Six Sigma implementation process on
projects and at various companies. They lead project teams, manage the process,
and maintain strict accountability: both to themselves and those working
underneath them on the project team to implement a Six Sigma vision. At this
level one becomes a teacher, leader and trainer in the company and to the key
stakeholder. They define and manage project teams comprised of Green Belts
and Yellow Belts as well as head organization wide improvements.
Certification:
The most stringent organization through which to obtain a Black Belt
certification is the ASQ. The ASQ members must pay $438 for the exam.
The CSSC administer Black Belt Certification in Levels.
Level I: Basic level and cost $159.
Level II: For this level they must obtain approval for atleast one project
from CSSC or ASQ. Costs $300.
Level III: It requires additional projects and costs $300.
The certification exam has 150 questions for four hours.
Training:
The Six Sigma Black Belt certification generally takes between 1 to 3
months to study and complete.

Certification:
The requirements for certification are :
Atleast 5 years of experience in the role of a Six Sigma Black Belt. Or
Completion of 10 six sigma Black belt projects.
They should have atleast four years experience of leading Six Sigma Projects
in a Black Belt Capacity. Costs $665 for the exam
Training:
2- 3 days Full-time classroom training and 30 days follow up.
