Know (UNO) by David Jonathan - Quick Reference Guide

Setup: Arrange the UNO cards in groups of color with all the Red cards at the face of the pack,
followed by the Yellow cards, then Green cards and lastly the Blue cards (RoYGBiv order). The first 3
face cards of each color group should be your force numbers. Every card should be oriented the same
direction except for the last card from the face of the Red, Yellow and Green color groups. Arrange
your four outs in a known order (e.g. in your pockets, in a wallet, etc.)

• Display the UNO cards to show the various colors and that you have only the number cards

• Flip the pack over and spread them (making sure the three reverse oriented cards are visible)

• Have the participant name any of the four colors and casually cut that color group to the top of
the pack (this is easily done by cutting at the correct reverse oriented card. If Blue is chosen,
no cut is necessary).

• Have the participant cut the pack in half, then riffle shuffle those two halves together

• Cut off more than half of the cards for the participant and ask them to riffle shuffle the two
packets together once more

• Take out your prediction (that corresponds to the color named) and place it down

• Have the participant take the shuffled pack, turn it face up, and spread through the cards one at
a time. Ask them to take out the first 3 cards they come to of their chosen color and place them
down in a row

• Spread the rest of the shuffled pack to show the other possible outcomes they could have had

• Sum the numbers of the 3 cards the participant removed and turn over the envelope to show
you correctly predicted the value!

• Open the envelope and slowly remove the paper inside to reveal you also predicted the color
they would name and the exact 3 numbers they would arrive at!

This short video briefly discusses how to setup and perform the routine. It is not intended to be a quicker,
alternative to the main tutorial video. Instead, treat this as a video refresher for the workings of the effect.
