SUBJECT: 2-SPEED TRANSMISSION CONTROL VALVE CHANGE

The transmission control valve on the above listed truck models has changed. Unlike
the old control valve, which had three solenoids beneath a cover plate, the new control
valve is easily identified by the four externally mounted solenoids on the side of the
valve body. This change requires an extra relay necessitating new wiring harnesses. It
also changes the location of the inching spool slightly, which requires different linkage.
The new control valve cannot directly replace the old one unless all parts listed in the
following table are replaced together. A kit will be made available later to convert to the
new valve configuration when the supply of old control valves is exhausted.

Check for "Electrical Schematic" entitled "ES-4 sol trans C/V" for the applicable truck
model.

and 2-Speed Transmissions may be misleading:

When checking transmission pressures or solenoid voltages please review the chart
below to determine the correct solenoid-to-test port connections. The markings on the
housing can be misleading and result in incorrect diagnosis of problems.
