                                     Critical Measures for Minimizing Risk
                                       Wednesday, March 16, 2005, 1:00 to 2:15 p.m. EST
                            (12:00 to 1:15 p.m. CST • 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. MST • 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. PST)
Despite its benefits, electrosurgery-related injuries are among the most common incidents in U.S. Food and Drug
Administration and ECRI problem-reporting databases. Reports include a wide range of serious incidents, from
third-degree burns to vessel perforations and even death from surgical fire. Unfortunately, many of these injuries
could have been easily prevented if critical electrosurgery patient safety measures had been followed by the hospital
    or healthcare facility.
ECRI’s audio conference will focus on the dangers of electrosurgery and the safeguards that every healthcare
facility should implement to ensure at least a minimum level of acceptable electrosurgery safety. Learn from
experts the most important steps you can take to protect your patients and staff from the hazards of electrosurgery.
    You’ll learn:
The most common dangers associated with electrosurgery
How to determine if your institution is following critical measures for electrosurgery safety
Ways to protect your patients and staff from electrosurgical injuries
