1. Social media has made it easier to misuse one’s

right to freedom of expression.
Social Media are interactive computer-based technologies that allow the
creation and sharing of information, ideas, interests and other forms of
expression through virtual networks. It facilitates the development of online
social networks by connecting a user's profile with other individuals. It
has become a modern trend due to the active user rates.

Social media has taken the world by storm. Facebook currently has 2.2 billion
users whereas Twitter and Instagram has 330 million and 800 million users
respectively. The percentage of people misusing social media is more than
the ones using it productively.

People use social media more to abuse the people they dislike and politicians
and cine stars often fall prey to it. People vent out all their wrath and
anger by bombarding tweet after tweet mocking them in every aspect they
could. People even intrude in the personal lives of the victims and voice
out their opinion on that. Celebrity fake accounts are being made and false
stories about them are being spread.

Everyone should understand that social media is beneficial when we use it

right. It's not for stalking people. It is for knowing where people are, what
they do, what they think and what's happening around us. Every day we come
across news articles about crimes committed from social media.

Loss of privacy:

All social networking sites involve placing personal information on the

internet which can almost be seen by everyone. Though there are privacy
settings for that many are careless about it.

Cyber bullying:

A Cyber bully is someone who abuses another person through technology or the
internet. Networking sites are breeding grounds for such crimes. It is easy
to post a mean comment, verbally abuse or spread a nasty rumour.

Time consumption:

Productive time becomes almost zero as the youngsters are addicted to social
networking sites.

Lack of social skills:

People started to prefer chatting with someone rather than involving in a

face to face conversation. People should be sensitive and civilized enough
not to intrude the personal space of others.

2. Social media has made us less social.

Has social media made us less social? It indeed had a great influence on us.
Given the measure of its impact, it naturally attracted some criticism. While
social media has its own cons, it has only helped humans build new relationships
in this fast-paced world and stay more connected with it.

Here's a common argument we hear against social media: People are interacting
with their devices more than they do with people or the environment around.
Thus, social media is making them less social.

Well, Social media has been nothing more than a facilitator. A facilitator for
information flow. The amount of information and knowledge one can accumulate
through social media is immense. It has erased boundaries and helped communities
grow. It had made learning easy and efficient. While the free flow of information
might pose some long-term problems, the positives outweigh the negatives.

The distance between people has a huge role in the level of communication between
them. It is hard to imagine the scenario if there weren't any social media.
Thanks to social media this distance just got reduced to almost nothing. You can
keep up with the lives of people you care for, and always be there for them.
Social media made communication easy and efficient. It made communication real-
time, just like two people having a conversation.

If a kid is spending a lot of time on his computer, the parents have every right
to be concerned. But, chances are the kid is picking up skills relevant to
today's tech world. Having said that, it is also equally important that one
develops the necessary people skills. There is definitely a concern around the
diminishing art of conversation, that needs to be addressed. Blaming social
media is definitely not one of the many possible solutions.

In conclusion, think of it this way. Anything that helps us stay more connected
with our friends, family and the outside world isn't essentially making us less
social. Social media is just a tool to stay connected. Nothing more, nothing
less.

3. Success comes to those who take risks.

"Success comes to those who takes risk", this proverb is one of the well
known proverb. its very important to take risk in life , if you are looking
for a better successful life. basically people are well planned in their
journey of acheving goals. they set a path and work accordingly. but to take
a risk in life is also as important as to have a preplanned idea. ""
Opportunities do not comes twice in life"" so try to gain what is there in
front of you never miss an opportunity. today in the era of technology and
science everything is available very much easily and all the door to your
future are open for us. its in our hand weather to gain it or no. To take a
risk is very much important, because you never know your faith. Today in this
world their are many people and big leaders who are successful in their life.
they always gained success by taking risk in their life. for example basco
De gama , bill gates the founder of microsoft, and many other CEO's of
companies like wipro, cognizant and others. If we are looking for a better
future ahead then its our duty to leave all the enjoyable things and must do
hard work in order to have a pleasures life ahead." The Goddess of success"
comes to those who work hard leaving behind all the luxurious lives. nothing
is gained without having a proper dream in life and doing work for it. Thus
taking risk is one of the most important part of life.and one must take risk.
because if its not done then we will not get the actual life experience and
we will die without having any name and fame....

OR
Success this is the key word which makes each and every individual of the
world to keep working. Everyone wants success and fame in their life.
Starting form the school going child to the 50+ man keep working and
putting all their efforts to attain success. In this century everyone are
ready to put hard work to attain success. But only the people who take
risks are attaining success. Its the foremost step to attain success. It's
not easy as we think. In that travel of success we will see many hurdles.
Getting out of that hurdles itself will be a big task and imagine if risk
gets added to it will it be easy one? Not at all. If you have studied the
life story of succesfull people you can able to see that everyone would
have come across the phase 'Risk'.For taking risk a person needs extreme
amount of self-confidence and hope. Even that risk leads to a big problem
in future.Instead of pushing us forward it may pull us backward. Let us
discuss an example. Most of us know the Reliance company. Before two years
it was going in loss. But one idea of Ambani's daughter turned the future
of Reliance in positive way.She told that future of telecom company is
based on Internet not the telecom services. This created a new idea Jio.
They gave free internet to people for the period of 1 year. Everone started
using Jio. From zero they slowly attained the top. This idea not only
created the success must also declined the services of other telecom
companies. If that risk was not taken, Reliance wouldn't attained this
success.

4. People today are more materialistic and less

satisfied as compared to previous generations.
Now these days people are being more materialistic and are not satisfied with
their achievements and are less satisfied. As we have developed with time,
our needs have increased compared to previous generation. our hunger for this
materialistic world has been increasing constantly, it also shows effects
our society our new generation our youth now values all the materialistic
delusions this world has to offer than true satisfaction and peace of mind.
We as time proceed are being bounded in these shackles of all gold but
glitter. What we achieve today will not be able to satisfy me tomorrow, that
is the way things work now these days. People need to understand that this
is nothing but a mirage which will not last more than a few days, they need
to understand that true satisfaction is the only thing that can last
long.Greed , one of the seven deadly sin is now taking a big toll on people
these days, during previous having whats is required or needed was enough
for people that time, but now having everything has become quite a trend and
as we know one life is just not enough to get every single pleasure, and this
feeling will eventually lead to regret.

5. Do you think progress is always good? Cite examples

to support your view.

Is is said that progress is the key to success. Without progress our life
will be stuck at a point. Every single human being has a particular aim in
his life. He slowely and gradually progresses towards his aim in order to
achieve it. Similarly every country and the world progress eveyday. The great
scientists are working for days months and years in order to invent something
new. This is nothing but only a progress of mankind. Our sole aim in life is
only to progress towards a more and more better life. But is progress always
beneficial to us? The answer to this question is no. Progress is not
beneficial to us eveytime. Forty to fifty years back we were not so much
advanced technically and digitally. At that time there were no mobile phones,
televisions, laptops and internet. These devices were not been invented during
that time. Due to the absence of these technical gagets there were no tall
towers and big satellites in the space. But now we can seen many tall towers
in almost all the roads and even in the fields. These mobile and electric
towers emits a huge amount of electromagnetic radiations which are very much
harmful for our health. Due to our contineous progress more and more number
of industries are coming up every day. These industries are making a lot of
air and water pollution. Now we don't have any fresh air to breadth and pure
water to drink. The water in the rivers and ponds are getting contaminated
by harmful pollutants. This is why today we can see that most of the houses
are using acquaguards. The industrial pollution is the major cause of acid
rain, global warming and green house effect. Thus it can be concluded that
our own progress will make us to fall in a great danger one day. A day will
definately come when our whole world will go under the water due to this
increasing pollution. Progress is ofcourse essential for humans but it should
be made in a sustainable manner.

6. At least one form of physical training should be

mandatory across education institutes.

"Lack of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while
movement and methodical physical exercise save it and preserve it." -
Plato. Physical Education (PE or PT) is seen in almost all schools. It’s
been there from before our times. For many children it is just a period of
sports and fun, but in many schools there is a strict curriculum consisting
of various exercises, sports and things useful for betterment of health. It
is often considered as one of the most essential part of education. But
should it really be mandatory to be a part of PE? Doesn't it have any
disadvantages? Shouldn't children and their parents be allowed to decide
whether they want PE for their child or not? What has made it a mandatory
course almost throughout the nation?
Yes, it should be mandatory –
1. Students mostly try to avoid exercise and a compulsory period of PE can
make them do the basic exercises atleast. This is for their own benefit.
2. Regular physical exercises are associated with a healthier, longer life
and with a lower risk of serious illnesses and diseases.
3. Studies have shown that physical education leads to improvements in
students’ academic performance and cognitive abilities too. Thus mental
health too is guaranteed with PE.

4. PE helps build stamina and strength so as to pursue the goals a student

has decided. Even if a person is genius, a weak constitution will only drag
him down and not let him achieve goals in a timely manner.
5. Childhood obesity is another rising problem. To counter it regular
exercise is necessary. PE offers this opportunity.
6. Good exercise habits result in healthier lifestyles which is extremely
useful in the future. PE inculcates these good habits.
7. With the current trend of overuse of technology, people are avoiding
physical activity. Students no longer play outdoors. Most of them prefer
watching TV or playing video-games. PE can offer the required physical
activity.

8. "If it weren't for the fact that the TV set and the refrigerator are so
far apart, some of us wouldn't get any exercise at all." - Joey Adams.

No, it should not be compulsory –

1. Many countries have kept it optional after a certain age or standard in
school. The children there are healthy. We can follow that suit.
2. Physical education courses include fitness training, sports and games
that could potentially result in physical injury.
3. Students who don't have much athletic ability may not have the skills
ESSAY TOPICS CAPGEMINI

necessary to compete or even defend themselves against better or more

competitive athletes. This can seriously lead to inferiority complex.
4. Bullying is another phenomenon which is seen during PE. Strong students
get a chance to pick on the weak during PE.
5. For students who have only academic interests, PE is just waste of time
and energy. Sometimes these students become the target of the bullies.
6. Many a times our PE curriculum is not suitable for physically disabled.
But they still have to attend the class. So they either try in vain to do
the exercises or remain alone on the sidelines. Again remaining on the
sidelines can hurt their self-confidence. If given an option they can
devote their time into something else.
7. Mandatory PE classes limit a student's freedom to choose where she wants
to invest his/her time.

8. Some people really are not into exercise. A basic amount of fitness is
known to all. But many do not want to get involved in an hour long PE
period.
9. "I am pushing sixty. That is enough exercise for me "- Mark Twain.
Surely there are pros and cons for mandatory PE, but looking at the current
health conditions of people and trends which students are following,
benefits of PE will always outweigh the cons. Mandatory PE is like bitter
medicine. It’s bitter but necessary. We can surely make provisions to
address concerns of the physically disabled. Also we can divide PE into two
forms - Basic and Advanced PE, with basic PE consisting of basic exercises
which would be mandatory for all. They would not strain a student and would
also consume less time. The advanced PE which will consist of outdoor
sports and more strenuous physical activities will be optional.

7. Negative Effects of Videogames (Game Violence).

The creation of video games that portray violent content have became a popular
commodity for children looking for ways to spend countless hours of free
time. Violent video games have been a part of American culture ever since
the release of “Death Race” in 1976 (“Videogames and Violence”). This
multiplayer arcade game involved driving a car over stick gremlins in order
to score points. These types of games have evolved into something far greater
with releases of Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, and Modern Warfare just to
name a few. Violent video games are leading people to draw conclusions that
children engaging in this type of violence for entertainment purposes may
result in a negative impact on society. A prime example of how video games
negatively influenced teenagers’ lives is the Columbine High School shooting
in Littleton, Colorado. Two teenagers opened fire on their school, in the
middle of the day, and were inspired by the games Wolfenstein 3D and Doom
(ProCon.org). So, is the ease of access and the thrill of violent activity
creating a real life danger zone for these gamers and the innocent bystanders
in their path? There is a direct correlation between video game violence and
mass murders occurring in this country. Exposure to video gaming may
desensitize children and encourage aggressive behaviors, lead to real life
acts of violence, and should be monitored in order to keep our children and
this nation safe.
In today’s generation, it is becoming more and more common for children to
park themselves in front of their 72” televisions and spend hours of free
time leveling up in games such as Call of Duty (COD), for example. At the
time, children and parents view violent gaming as an innocent way of spending
free time even though it involves using weapons resulting in deaths. However,
this has becoming a societal issue; one that is being considered a possible
ESSAY TOPICS CAPGEMINI

precursor for aggressive behavior. This aggression may occur in the short
term and be visible through anger and frustration. When it comes to the short
term effects of games involving violence, children can display aggressive
behaviors and tendencies right after playing has stopped (“Video Games and
Violence”).
In conclusion it is true that violent video games are harmful for children
in many ways. I want to recommend that it is important to aware parents and
children about the negative consequences of violent video games, secondly
parents should check the content of the video game to prevent child from
different negative effects, and the amount of time children spend on playing
video games should also be monitored. Thirdly it is very essential to
introduce the technology to the children at the appropriate age and with
appropriate way, so it will not harm the child. So it’s the time to take
action and stop the negative consequences of violent video games which are
physical, mental and psychosocial.

8. Winner Stand Alone.

I completely agree with the topic that a winner always stands alone. A winner
is one who gets the success by struggling with difficulties in his life. A
winner always thinks differently from others. He does not care about the rest
of world. He also do not think what the people are going to think about him.
A winner is always dedicated towards his goal. A winner works hard for getting
the success. No one knows a person before his success. But after the success,
everyone in the society respects the winner. A What is that makes a man
winner or a loser? This is a very common question which comes in everyone's
mind. Some people find its answer in a less duration of time while some
people takes a lot of time to find the answer to this question. One who finds
the answer in a short duration of time gets the success in less time. And
one who takes a lot of time in finding the answer takes more time in getting
the success. A winner always believes in hard work while a loser sits idle
hoping that god will do something for him. Every person should know their
capability and he should work according to them. A winner always finds
opportunity in problems while a loser always sees problems in opportunities
too. This is the major difference between a loser and a winner. Self
determination and hard work are the keys to success. It's high demand of time
that we should realize our potentials. We should choose our work area very
wisely. We should choose the areas in which we are really interested. We
should not copy others in choosing our work area. I strongly believe that
choosing a right work of own interest is the first step towards success.
Also, a winner should not forget his earlier days after getting the success.
He should continuously follow his previous routine that made him a winner as
it is well known that being a winner is tough but it is more tough to maintain
it. A winner is alone only before his success. After the success he is always
surrounded with lots of people.

9. Do ethics or moral principles change with time? Cite

examples to support your view.
Ethics and morals are just more than human nature.Ethics are rules of
conduct recognized by a particular class or group in the society.Ethics is
more than just right versus wrong. Morals are concerned with the principles
of rules of right conduct.A person's moral code may not always influence
how a person reacts in a given situation. Morals are more evident in the
animal world.Animals such as Wolves,Monkeys,Elephants have more morals
compared to other animals.Animals are not only that base their ethics and
morals on feelings but also humans also react according to the situations
and feelings.People take decisions according to the feelings, emotions and
what is right according to the situation. With the present developing
technology and politics the ethics and moral principles changes with
respect to time.Technological advances has become one of the reason for the
people to escape from ethics and morals. For example having cigarette it
damages lungs of the person. Person should be so cautious and according to
his communal ethics having cigarette is not ethical according to a
religion. According to Hindus, having a second marriage is not ethical but
in case of Muslims which is not a problem. At last, I conclude as people
should take decisions according to the ethics, emotions, feelings and
situations but not according to the influence in the society. They should
not fall in the trap of present technology and politics. Ethics and
morality, at times, feels like a less popular lifestyle for our
civilization. This may be a particular reason why we live in an uncertain
and doubtful culture.
