“Tinkerbell” Crocheted Doll Pattern

Designed and crocheted by Becky Ann Smith.

I used Herrschner’s 2-ply Afghan Yarn and a size 1 (2.25

mm) steel crochet hook. The doll is about 7 inches tall.
For a larger doll, use 4-ply yarn and a size D aluminum
hook.

You will also need a yarn needle, polyester fiberfill, craft

glue, 2 small green buttons for eyes, sewing needle and
thread, and 2 small white pom-poms

Yarn colors:
Cream, Leaf Green, Baby Yellow, light gray, white

This doll was made using these stitches:

sc=single crochet
hdc=half-double crochet
dc=double crochet
decrease=1 sc combining 2 stitches
dc decrease=combine 2 dc into one.

I used continuous rounds for much of this doll. You can

also join each row and chain 1. This will form a ‘seam,’ but
makes it much easier to count rows! (Most of the seams
will be hidden by hair or clothing). Do not turn pieces unless the pattern says to do so.

Pom-Poms
You can use pre-made pom-poms or make your own.
To make pom-poms, cut 20 1-inch pieces of white
yarn. Tie tightly in center with 2 four-inch pieces of
white yarn. Trim yarn to about one-eighth inch from
the knot, until it’s a round shape. Put a dot of glue on
knot, so it doesn’t
fall apart!

Tie or glue pom-poms to shoes.

Legs Make 2
In any stitch, attach cream color yarn to shoe.
Row 1: 1 sc in each sc, in inside loops only.
Row 2: (1 sc, decrease) 5 times. 10 sc.
Rows 3-15: Sc in each sc.
End. (Ending stitch should be at back of leg.)
Stuff legs with polyester fiberfill.

Hips (underwear)
Row 1: Join leaf green yarn to ending stitch of one leg. Sc in first 3 sc.
In next sc, draw yarn through, leaving loop on hook. Draw yarn through
corresponding stitch on leg 2. Draw yarn through both loops on hook,
combining legs. Sc in next 9 sc on leg 2. Draw yarn through same stitch
used to combine legs, leaving loop on hook. Draw yarn through same
combining stitch on leg 1. Draw yarn through both loops on hook. Sc
in next 6 sc on leg 2. There should be 20 sc total around the tops of the
legs.
Rows 2-5: 1 sc in each sc. End, leaving length for sewing.

With yarn needle, sew torso and hips together, leaving an opening for
stuffing. Fill torso and hips with polyester fiberfill. Sew remaining
stitches together.

second chain from hook.

Row 20: 1 sc in each of next 7 sc. Chain 1, turn.

armhole opening, evenly sc 6 stitches.
Row 22: working in the 6 sc on row 21,
decrease 2 times. Slip stitch in next sc and end.
Armhole should have 11 stitches around. Leave
length for sewing.

Stuff arms with polyester fiberfill.

Sew arm to torso (top of arm should be on Row 19, bottom of arm on Row
22). Sew second arm to opposite side of torso.

Ears Make 2
With cream yarn, chain 3. 2 sc in second chain from hook. 2 dc in

Pull dress onto doll, and tack into place if desired.
Hair
Cut 60 six-inch strands of baby yellow yarn. Tie in center with 3 10-inch strands.
(note: In my pictures, I used 8-inch strands because I had them pre-cut. They don’t
need to be that long!)

Bun
Fold and smooth hair so you have a rounded end where the
strands are tied together. Tightly tie a strand of contrasting yarn
(I used red) about three-quarters of an inch from the knot.

Tie hair to center of row 3 on the back of the head.

Arrange hair evenly around head.

Cut off straight at chin level on front.

Part at side front, and apply craft

glue from top of head to ear, one
side at a time. Arrange hair into
place.

On back of head, cut hair straight across

at shoulder level.

Apply craft glue to back of head and

arrange hair.

Trim hair, angling down from center of

face toward shoulders on front, and
feathering down from center of
head toward neck on back of head.
Trim straight across nape of neck.
