Forgive Yourself
“Hello loser! You are so ugly. Those pimples make you look like a monster. Nobody wants
to be your friend. Nothing you are capable at! You are truly a mistake to be born into this universe.”
I used to scream out those painful words whenever I looked at my reflection in the mirror.
My first year in senior high school was my worst nightmare. Every time I walked through
corridor, people would look me down and started mocking. “Look at her face, so scary.” Even my
classmate once insulted me, “With your appearance I wonder whether you can have a boyfriend.”
I went back home in anger. I started blaming myself. If only I have
One day, Mom took me to the orphanage. She smiled, hug me and said, “Can you those
children? Some of them cannot see, hear, talk, or even walk because they have no legs that can
support their bodies. Aren’t you much luckier than them?”
“We are all human, we make mistake and it’s ok. Forgive yourself, once you do it, you will
be able to forgive others.”
“The most difficult person to forgive is yourself. Do you like you for who you are? Do
you accept your weakness?”
As Mahatma Ghandi says, the weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the
strong. Be brave enough to forgive yourself.
Mark 11: 25 And when you stand to pray, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive
them, so that your Father who is in heaven, may also forgive you your sins.”
