Learning Plan is Science - Grade 7
I. Learning Targets:
At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
a. Identify the difference between latitude and longitude;
b. describe the location of the Philippines using the latitude and longitude; and
c. demonstrate how places on Earth may be located using a coordinate
system. S7ES-Iva-1
II. Learning Content:
A. Topic: Locating the Philippines using coordinate system.
1. Concepts:
In geography, latitude is a geographic coordinate that specifies the
north–south position of a point on the Earth's surface. Latitude is an
angle which ranges from 0° at the Equator to 90° at the poles while
Longitude is a coordinate that specifies the east-west position of a point
on the Earth's surface ranging from 0° at the Prime Meridian to +180°
eastward and −180° westward.
2. Skills:
Trace the location of different places in the map.
Collaborate with other learners using critical thinking.
3. Values:
Following instructions, patience, cooperation and appreciate the
importance of locating places on earth using coordinate system.
B. Instructional Materials: Laptop, PowerPoint presentation, multimedia
projector, speaker, manila papers, paper tape, puzzle of Philippine map, cut-
out words, images, globes, colored chalks, and answer sheets.

lines of latitude are parallel to the

Thus, it is clear that there is a
relationship between the latitude of a
place and the climate it experiences,
and we will find out why in the next
lesson.

V. Assignment
Directions: In a one bond of paper, make a map of a make-believe place.
It could be a place totally of their imagination, or a place such as Narnia,
Atlantis, or Hogsmeade. The maps should have a latitude and longitude grid
by which a person could locate specific places.
