2011 Glitch and Strategy Guide1
Nanos
If I refer to the LOLB, I am talking about the “left outside line backer.”
This means that if you are looking at the screen, the linebacker on the left side of the screen is
the one I am talking about.
The same goes for RDT: “right defensive tackle.”
This would be the second most defensive lineman on the right side of the screen.
I know this isn’t how the players are normally referred to. However, for the sake of explaining
the setup, this is the easiest way.
Show Blitz
Bring down the FS into the gap between the center and the left guard
Hot route him into a QB Spy
You must manually blitz with him. I suggest using the turbo blitz described in the glitches
section for jumping the snap best.
3-4 Solid - Gaps Press (Since most people have picked up the counter to the QB Spy Glitch, here
is a counter for the counter)
Show blitz.
Blitz your MLB straight down and place him on the hip of the DT.
User control the non-blitzing MLB and mark the RB in the flats.
If the offensive line is in “aggressive” the blitzer through the A gap will get through, but the
picked up, allowing the outside blitzer to have a wide open window at the QB.
This is the best nano so far this year. The hole that opens for the LB to shoot through is nearly
double that of the 3-4 QB spy glitch. Also, if your opponent uses the aggressive O-line counter,
a blitzing player on the right side will make it through.
These two nanos out of the 4-6 bear formation have become my favorite plays in the game.
They can be found in the 46 defensive playbook.
This is also, in my opinion, the best run stopping play in the game.
This version works better for stopping the run, and also allows more than one player to get
penetration.
Glitches
-Rocket Catching
Rocket catching this year is as easy as it has ever been. All you need to do is take the “Auto
Strafe” setting off (Start -> Settings -> Game Options -> Auto Strafe -> Off)
Now, when you throw to your receiver, stand in front of the target hold the strafe button (L2,
LT) and your receiver will face the ball. Press and hold (Triangle, Y) while in strafe to make the
jump and catch.
Tips:
On fade and streak routes, make sure your QBs feet are set and throw a lob pass while holding
the down arrow. This will allow you to easily have enough time to strafe and face the ball
before it hits the ground.
On short routes such as curls or out routes towards the sideline, throw a bullet pass while
holding the up arrow. Make sure your receiver has finished his route and is standing still or the
ball will be overthrown if you try to strafe. You won’t have as much time to react so this is a
little more difficult.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlGLRGBATUw
The curl route is once again very effective this year. Check out the tips in the money route
section for the best ways to run the route.
The one way the curl almost always gets shut down in man coverage is when your receiver curls
and the defender is sitting right on top of him. Usually, if you make the pass, the defender will
jump the pass for an INT or deflection.
To make the completion every time, throw a bullet pass to your receiver with precision down
and take control of him as soon as you throw. Manually take him and move him towards the
ball for the catch. The defender will never jump the ball and your receiver will always make the
catch with the defender a few steps behind. The process will have to be done quickly since you
won’t have much time on this short pass. I suggest holding down while you switch to your man
so he can start moving as quickly as possible.
*Receiver must be completely stopped. Give him about half a second of standing still before
you make the throw or else he will not get a good jump.
-Juke Glitch
Credit to frank27
This glitch lets you juke out the CPU defenders that are near you when running with the ball. So with the
new defensive assist feature, this move will force people to stop using it. You won’t be able to run this
immediately, so keep practicing it.
Head towards a defender, and wait until there are a few yards of space in between you and your
defender, but you do not want too much space or else it will not have an effect on the defender. If the
defender is too close, he may go into his tackling animation while you are performing it. You also want
to be outside the defender or at least head on. The defender cannot be outside of you. If you are
running to the right, perform a semi circle on the right analog stick from the left to right. If you are
running to the left, perform a semi circle from the right to left. You want to perform the semi circle on
from the middle of the analog stick to the bottom and back to the middle. It looks like a long "U" shape.
-Turbo Blitz
If you press the audible button on defense, you can hold down on your player and he won’t
move.
So set up your play, and click on to the player you would like to blitz with. Hit the audible
button and then move in the direction you would like to blitz in. He will take off as soon as the
ball is snapped and then you can hold sprint after the play starts for extra speed.
This is a great method of executing an outside blitz and getting a great jump off the snap.
I’ve been using this for the last few days and the only time it doesn’t work is when your
opponent runs the ball. It is a four man blitz, and the safety shoots through the A gap
untouched every time.
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbx9r8_e29c
Counter: If your opponent is doing this to you, do an O-Line shift -> Aggressive
If you pick your play at the :20 second mark left in the play clock, the game clock will take an
additional 20 seconds off for the accelerated clock, but your play clock will not be affected. This
means you can take a minute off the clock in one play, and kill a quarter in seven plays.
This will work in any formation, any setup. Just hot route your TE to an inside slant and throw it
to him within a second of hiking the ball. The only time this will not work is in bump and run
coverage where your TE is caught up, if that’s the case, do not make the pass.
-Freeze Game / Pause Glitch
Credit to “Hyatt”
Choose game flow at 3 seconds left in any quarter
Pause the game and wait for the opponent to resume
When they resume, you resume
The screen rolls around the field until someone quits
You will need to use your computer and install two FREE and spyware free programs for this
glitch.
You will use Cain & Able to get your oppositions IP address, then use zone alarm to block that
specific IP. The game will end in about 10-15 seconds.
The best part about this glitch… the game doesn’t show up. It is as if you never played the
game.
This means NO DNF, NO LOSS, NO RECORD OF THE GAME EVER HAPPENING.
Here is a new strategy for throwing the deep ball with the “fade route” as a substitute for
rocket catching. I find this to be much easier once you get the timing down.
I’ve noticed that the best catching animation this year is the over the shoulder catch which has
a great catch % and also takes priority over all other animations. Meaning, if you are on top of
the defender, and can make your receiver do this animation, you will catch it regardless of your
defender’s action.
-Pick a play that has your receiver on a fade route. The hot routed fade route will not work for
this, and the streak doesn’t work as often as the fade route animation that is on a specific play.
-Hike the ball, wait until your receiver has ran 10 yards exactly, and then tap his icon while
holding down on the D-pad. Make sure your QB’s feet are planted and not throwing on the
move.
-Click on to your receiver immediately and cut inside at an angle. You only need about two
steps inside, and then move back towards the ball and hit catch.
-This should trigger the over the shoulder animation, allowing you to catch the ball for a big
gain.
-Deep Ball Glitch
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sg8LNY9HfBw
This glitch allows you to throw for a touchdown to your #1 receiver for 60+ yards. You must be
at least on your own 40 yard line or you will not have enough space.
This glitch will work against zone defense. The most common defensive play used is Cover 3.
This glitch is ideal against Cover 3.
Hot route every player to block other than the two outside receivers.
The tough part is avoiding the pressure long enough to let your receiver run past the safety’s
zone.
I suggest dropping back, scanning the field for where the pressure is coming, and look for a gap
where you can step up after about 3-5 seconds.
Once your receiver crosses the middle of the field, throw a lob pass while holding up on the D-
pad for a huge gain.
Option 2:
Same first three steps, but take a safety (speedy player) and put him where the linebackers line
up, when the play clock stops, it means your opponent has started his kick. Once you’ve gotten
a feel for the timing, you can jump the snap by starting your run before the ball is snapped, and
by the time you reach the line (if you timed it right) you will shoot through nearly top speed and
easily block the kick.
***Go to practice mode and get a feel for the timing. It’s the only way to learn how to time the
snap.

clock jump snap strategy.
-Encroachment Glitch
Credit to Frank27
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQmvluiwL9U&fmt=6
This is one of those glitches that will only work for you if you practice it. It took me about an
hour to get to the point where I could make it work every time, so you have to be patient.
Tips: Everything in the game that involves timing, I make a count in a specific rhythm that I say
in my head.
The timing does not matter for when you pick the WR Spot audible, but it is very specific timing
for the HB Off Tackle audible. If you call it as fast as you can, it will not work, it’s about a 2
second rhythmic count.
I suggest that once you find out the correct timing for calling the 2nd audible, create a rhythm
you repeat to yourself when performing the glitch. For me, it is one-two-three, each number
simultaneous with a button: (One= Audible, Two = More Plays, Three = Call the audible). Please
realize the number does not represent a second, the audible needs to be called within 3
seconds or the glitch will not work.
*** If the TE does not run into a defender, click on to him (Circle, B) and motion him to the
right. Call hike as soon as he turns. If you do not do this, he will most likely completely miss his
block and you won’t pick up any yards.
Tips:
Hit Circle/B to highlight over your FB, then press either left or right on the D-pad to motion him.
The flip play option is available by pressing the audible button. This glitch is all about timing.
Tip: Snap the ball to the FB by calling the play HB Dive from the goal line formation.
-Superman Blitz
Now that the QB spy glitch is patched, this is the best working option to sack the QB within a
second.
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZObR_mJt0NY
-This glitch is all about timing. The concept is basically jumping the snap.
-Take control of a linebacker, and shift your defensive line so that at least two D-linemen are
completely lined up with the offensive linemen. This is where the gap is for shooting through.
-Now comes the tricky part, you will probably only get this glitch to work 1/3 of the time
because you have to time it almost perfectly. Move back with your player, and run straight
towards the gap you’ve just formed.
-If the opponent snaps the ball while you near the LOS, you will shoot through at full speed
without being touched. If he does not snap the ball, you will not get a penalty as long as you are
aimed towards the gap, just move back quickly and do not touch an offensive lineman.
-I only use this about once every 4-6 plays so your opponent never gets comfortable. He never
knows when you will be using it, so he will not know when to hold off on snapping the ball,
which will greatly increase your success rate. Make sure to study his pattern throughout the
game of snapping the ball. Most players snap the ball at a consistent time throughout the game
so take note of that.
***Tip: You can get this to work 100% of the time any time your opponent uses a play that
involves a motion route. Once the player goes into motion, your opponent has already hit the
hike button, so time when the receiver or HB finishes his pre-play motion route with your
player jumping the snap.
Tip: Blocking FG’s with this is very simple, when your opponent’s play clock stops, this means
the kick meter has started. You can start your run as soon as the clock stops and easily block
almost every kick. (Even PATs)
This has become my favorite glitch since the LOS glitch last year.
Tips:
When you come out in the shotgun play, run it once and then go into the hurry up offense. This
allows you plenty of time to set up the glitch.
You can get any receiver you want by substituting the desired receiver into the slot position.
This is done by pausing the game, and going into depth chart. Move your desired receiver into
the 3rd position from the top.
- Fake FG Strategies
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0yR7iaGilE
After seeing all of these fake FG plays over the last few weeks in college football working so
well, I decided to try it out in practice mode. Don’t do this every time. But if you have kicked a
few FG’s throughout the game, you can catch your opponent off guard by doing this. This
probably won’t work if the defense is in a regular defensive formation like 4-3. So pay attention
to the formation the defense comes out in.
Sub in your fastest QB. Roll out to the outside without holding turbo. The defenders should
stay in zone, and when the (X, A) receiver gets close to the sideline; the defender will leave the
QB spy position and will leave you a wide open lane down the sideline. If the defender rushes
the QB, the receiver should be left open.
You can also do this on PATs. Throw to the (X,A) receiver quickly and he will most likely be
open.
Tips
TURN OFF AUTO SPRINT AND AUTO STRAFE
(Start -> Settings -> Game Options -> Auto Strafe -> Off)
(Start -> Settings -> Game Options -> Auto Sprint -> Off)
Use the new high step feature rather than diving for the corner of the end zone:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtRoVGvwSLk
Right analog stick DOWN
It will allow your momentum to keep you moving forward rather than being pushed out of
bounds while you are flying through the air.
Beating Relaxed Coverage: If you see the defense drop back, hot route a slot receiver to an out
route. Inside or outside, doesn't matter, and make the pass as soon as he cuts with lead and the
defender will be nowhere near the pass.
When running up the middle, JUKE JUKE JUKE. It’s amazing how many times I see people run
and get stopped behind the line without trying to avoid a single tackle. Juking is extremely
under used when running and can be the difference between a loss of 1 and a gain of 5. Just
juke left and right on the right analog stick through your blocks and you will notice an
immediate improvement in your running game.
My favorite running play this year, that works great with this strategy is Strong Pro – HB
Blast (found in many playbooks)
Lateral the ball: Most people don’t know that you can pitch the ball by hitting L2 (PS3) or LT
(Xbox)
I recommend only doing this when you are being tackled by one player and there is no other
defender near him. Make sure you see a player to make the pitch to who has no one near him.
Stiff Arm: I rarely see this used, but it has become my go to move when running down the
sideline and being engaged by a defender on my side. You can tap X PS3 (A Xbox) to switch
hands when carrying the ball, and then hold the button to perform the stiff arm.
Onside Kicks: I’ve been experimenting to find the most effective onside kick accuracy/power
and what I’ve had the most success with is about 70 power and here on the accuracy:
About 1/3 of the time the ball will bounce off a receiver and can be recovered.
I started experimenting offline with some deep ball passing that doesn't require much skill. I
found a few strategies that allow you to throw deep without having to user catch. These plays
all come down to defensive reads and timing.
Please understand these plays will not work all the time. They are situational strategies that
most opponents will not recognize. I tried to come up with plays that are rarely ever used so
with enough practice, you can catch your opponent off guard for a big gain.
Stopping the Run: I have found that the best run stop plays are in the 46 Bear formation, (I use the 46
defensive playbook), but this formation may be in others. Refer to the “Safety Fire” nano for the best
way to execute these plays.
Shutdown Pass Defense: The 1-5-5 Nickel formation found in the Jets defensive playbook has some of
the best pass defense plays. I suggest the “Cover 3” play, then bring up the LB shift screen and hit up on
the RA stick to put all of your LBs in the yellow zone. User with the safety to shutdown the deep ball.
Force 1-2 additional fumbles a game: On top of the random fumbles that occur throughout a game, you
can force an additional 1-2 fumbles per game by using the strip ball button before engaging the ball
carrier for a tackle. On PS3 the strip ball button is L1, for Xbox it is LB. This works best after a player
breaks a tackle and is wobbly on his feet. It may not help, but I like to mash the button during the strip
animation as well. I have been forcing about one fumble a game using the strip ball tackle animation.
Money Routes
The key to effective passing in this year’s installment is timing
1) Curl Route
The curl this year works great against man coverage if the defense is in press coverage or bump
and run. For the timing make the throw a little before the receiver starts to turn. If you throw it
to soon, he will keep running straight. If you time it perfectly, he will turn before his defender
can react and catch the ball as soon as he makes his curl. Make sure to throw a bullet pass with
precision up.
2) TE Inside Post
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVQIVY0qE6k
Zone: This is probably the best route to run against zone defenses. Make a bullet pass with
precision up to your TE as soon as he makes his cut. The defender usually fluffs off when the TE
makes the cut towards the middle of the field and the safety rarely engages if you throw early
enough. If you timed the throw correctly, the pass will be nearly perfectly perpendicular to the
QB, meaning it will be a perfectly straight pass up the middle of the field where only your TE
can make the catch.
3) Quick Slant
Zone: Make a bullet pass with precision up as soon as the 1st defender pulls off the receiver.
Make sure to make the pass in between the two defenders zone. The throw should be made
well before the next defender locks onto your receiver.
Man: Wait for him to get a lead step on his man then throw a bullet pass with lead. This could
be right off the cut, or it may take a few strides for your receiver to get speed and beat his man.
4) TE Drag
If you have a speedy TE this play is unstoppable in man. Clear out the side of the field where
your TE is running by hot routing everyone in the opposite direction of where the TE is running.
Drop back in the pocket, and let your TE outrun the LB. Fire a bullet pass with lead precision.
The effectiveness of this route has gone down a lot compared to last year, but whenever your
receiver can get a lead on his man, give him a bullet lead pass for a nice pickup. In Zone
coverage, timing is key. Try to make the throw as soon as one defender leaves him before he
draws a new defender and he should be open for the catch.
Works well on tight coverage as soon as the receiver makes his final cut inside. Throw a bullet
pass with precision up as soon as he cuts and his defender should have no chance. This route
also avoids the safety pretty well because the safety tends to move to the outside of the
receiver and when he makes his cut about 15 yards down the field, the safety is normally way
out of position and the defender covering your receiver usually is well behind.
Tip: Hot route the receiver on the opposite side of the field to a fade route so that he pulls the
opposite safety away from the middle of the field.
7) Slant Mod
This was my favorite route last year and still works well. The stutter almost always makes the
defender bite, so make the throw as soon as the receiver comes off the fake and is heading
towards the middle with a bullet lead pass. The only times this gets shut down is when the
receiver is running directly into a defender in a zone. Don't make the pass if you see a defender
lurking in front of the area where the receiver is heading.
8) HB V cut
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcoQWxqv5gY (Fast forward to 1:10)
Instead of putting down the HB drag (obvious) I included this route which has become one of
my favorites. There's two ways to run this, the way you run it should be based on the defense.
It will take a quick read, but practice this enough and you will be able to recognize it very
quickly.
Option 1: If the defender covering your HB starts moving in on him immediately after the ball is
snapped, he will be covered on his cut across the middle. In this case, give him a precision lead
BEHIND bullet pass before he makes his cut, so about 1.5-2 seconds after you snap the ball. He
should continue his route towards the sideline without hesitation and run for some extra yards.
Tip: “Behind” as in: If he makes his run to the left, then cuts inside, throw the pass with left
precision before he makes his cut towards the middle.
Option 2: If the defense is in zone, or slacking on coverage, run the route like it is intended. If
zone, wait for a gap between defenders and make a bullet pass. The gap could either be right
off the cut, or after he passes the first defender. If he is covered and his defender is slow to
adjust to the cut, give him a lead bullet pass after he passes the opposite hash marks once he
has a few steps on his man.
Stay in the pocket and watch your FB. If the defense blitzes he will be wide open in the flats for
a bullet pass and a big gain after catch. If the defender covering him stays back and watches
him, wait for him to start running and he will more often than not get a big lead on the
defender if you can buy about 4-5 seconds in the pocket. Wait about 3 seconds after he starts
running and give him a bullet lead pass. Works well in zone and best in man.
This was my wildcard route because it’s pretty iffy. If the defense is in man and the defender
gets a bad read, your receiver is always open for a big gain if given a bullet lead precision pass
after he cuts towards the sideline. If the defender reads it well and is close in on your man, it’s a
toss up pass because of the angle that the throw must be made (the defender can usually jump
it because it is across the field). The same thing can be said about zone. Usually the defender
won't ride the cut all the way to the sideline, but the problem is if a defender drops back and is
assigned to the sideline the pass is almost always interfered with. Basically, if a player is in zone
between the receiver and QB, look for another option.
Money Plays
New Orleans PB:
Wait for all the receivers to finish their routes and sit still for about a second. The HB will be
about 1-2 yards away from his man who should be flat footed. Give him a bullet pass with
precision away from the defender for an easy gain.
One receiver on the drag is always open. The defenders get tangled up in the middle of the field
from the congestion. Usually the right receiver moving left is open.
Put the inside receiver on the right on a streak, and motion him out to the right. If the defense
is in cover 3, this becomes a flood play and the safety must chose to either cover the HB or WR.
One will be open deep for a big gain.
Zone Buster
Play: Gun Bunch TE- All Cross
Setup: Block HB, hot route outside receiver into a slant in. Motion him inside and hike when
he's under closest slot receiver. One of the crossing routes will be open against any zone blitz
from LB's.
Zone Busters
Play: Bunch TE form
Setup: Put HB into a fade after you motion him to opposite side of QB. Quick pass to him.
Cover 2 Busters:
Play: Gun Bunch Mesh
Setup: Smart route the corner post route. However if you see someone playing that buzz purple
zone then hit the B receiver on a drag route. With this play a streak is optional vs cover 2
usually the safety won't play on it. I recommend streaking LB. I also like to motion HB left and
hot route him into a fade, he will be open underneath all day.
Cover 2 Busters:
Setup: Works with just about any play from Gun Bunch. Simply put HB and TE in a drag and
motion HB left. Put your left receiver on a slant out or if you use the play Mesh just smart route
the left receiver. With this play done like this the TE will block for the HB after he gets ball. Its
kind of glitchy because the flat zone will press which will open up the flat.
Playbook
Breakdowns
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9BItna_8y0
Gun – Bunch Wk – Steelers Cross
A play that generally goes for about 15 yards. Ideal on 1st down, or 2nd and long. Your primary
target will be your HB, looking at the TE on the blue route as your back up in case your HB is
shut down.
Zone: This works best against zone, if the defense is in cover 3, your HB will be wide open 9/10
times. If the defense is in other zone plays, you may not be able to find your HB as open, but a
well timed throw between zones will result in a big pickup. Make a bullet pass with precision
inside once your HB runs past the first defender in zone. There will be a window of time
between when the first defender leaves him and before the next defender can adjust.
Man: This is a little trickier in man. The success of this play in man coverage depends on who is
covering your HB. If the defense is in a formation such as dime where a CB will be covering your
HB, you may want to look for your TE instead. If the defense is in 3-4 or 4-3 etc where a LB will
be covering your HB, you have two options when running this play:
1) Make a quick pass with precision towards the sideline if your linebacker is lined up in the
middle of the field and has to run 10+ yards to reach your HB.
2) Wait for the LB to reach your HB, and as soon as the LB turns to run with him, throw a bullet
pass while running forwards in the pocket.
-In the video, I am holding up on the left analog from the time of the snap to the release. This
allows your HB to outrun the LB and make the catch in front of his man.

New Orleans Offensive Breakdown
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcoQWxqv5gY
A drive I recorded of a few of my favorite plays from this book.
The TE’s will cross and disrupt the defenders allowing at least one receiver to lose his man. Find
the open receiver (most often the right one) and give him a bullet lead pass after he emerges
from the middle of the field.
Roll out to the right and the (Square, X) receiver will be ahead of his man for a bullet lead pass
on the right side of the field.
This play gives you a few options. The TE will be your primary target for a pass towards the
sidelines, but if the defense is blitzing and you don't have time to let him run his route, or he is
covered, look for the HB sitting right past the LOS for a quick bullet pass. The WR on the curl
route is always an option.
Singleback Ace - Flanker Drive
I love the motion routes and this is a great play for 3rd and short or on the goal line. The
receiver is almost always a few steps ahead of his man for an easy quick bullet lead pass.
This is a great running play. Just follow your FB, he will almost always create a hole, so take it
and juke towards space once you pass the line.
Cancel the PA by hot routing your HB to block or you will not have time to let this play develop.
The route the primary receiver runs is great. Either throw it to him off his first cut, or wait for
him to head down the field and give him a deep pass.
* On certain defensive plays (if you cancel the PA) the receiver on the inside of the primary will
be wide open as soon as you hike the ball because his man bumps into the receiver on the deep
pattern. Throw him a bullet lead pass as soon as you hike the ball.
A) The (Square, X) receiver is your primary target. You can wait for him to be about
perpendicular to the QB in the center of the field, and by then he should be fairly open. Give
him a bullet lead pass.
B) Your other option is to throw a bullet pass with precision towards the sideline BEFORE he
makes his cut inside. This can be deadly for 10+ yards. The pass should be made about 1.5
seconds after hiking the ball.
C) Throw to the (X, A) receiver as soon as he makes his cut towards the sideline. Give him a
bullet lead pass.
D) Throw to the HB as soon as he starts heading towards the sideline before a defender
engages him.
A great motion route for your HB. Either throw it to him after his first cut to the inside by giving
him a bullet pass with precision left off his cut, or wait for him to go deep and outrun his man.
Zone Killer: Hot route the far left receiver to an out right route. This uses the concept of zone
flooding. The primary receiver will be open because the defender in his area will move towards
the decoy receiver once he enters his zone. As soon as the (Circle, B) receiver makes his cut
inside give him a bullet lead pass.
I-Form Pro - FB Dive
A great consistent run for 3-4 yards up the middle. Hit the hole as fast as you can and juke
towards space.
This is one of my favorite plays in the game. The TE's route is unstoppable. Give him a bullet
precision up pass off his cut. I have a few videos in the money route section demonstrating how
to run this play. It's truly a killer.
I actually run this play with the screen as my secondary option. I first always look at the receiver
on the motion route and read the defense to see if there is anyone in the area he will be cutting
towards. If his man is the only one near him, give him a bullet lead pass as soon as he makes his
cut. If he is not open, look for the HB on the screen which can open up for big yards if you
follow your blocks.
Hot route the left receiver to an out left route and give him a bullet lead pass off the play
action.
(Circle, B) receiver: Either throw a bullet pass with precision left as soon as he makes his first
cut towards the middle, or wait until he cuts to the outside and throw it deep towards the
corner.
(Sqaure, X) receiver: Either throw a bullet pass right off the snap before the receiver makes his
cut inside, or let him cut towards the middle and outrun his man for a deep pass.
The primary receiver will be your main target. Throw him a bullet lead pass as soon as he makes
his cut towards the middle. You can also look for your FB in the blue route. More often than
not, he will be open in the flats after he becomes eligible.
This is a custom play I made. Its purpose is to counter your opponent if he is using overload
nanos.
Hot route both the HB and FB to block.
Hot route the (X, A) receiver to a curl route, and hot route the (Circle, B) receiver to an out right
route.
Throw to the receiver on the out route as soon as he makes his cut towards the sidelines. This is
a quick release play that is designed to give your receiver space for the catch.
Your primary target will be the receiver on the drag route up the middle. If the linebackers are
in zone and you don't think you can place the pass between them, look for your FB who is
almost always open weaving around the linemen on the LOS.
This play is designed for gaining 2-4 yards when needed. You will be throwing to the HB as he is
moving behind the line. He will go undetected so let him cross the middle of the field then give
him a bullet pass and turn it quickly for some extra yards.
Option 1: If the defender covering your HB starts moving in on him immediately after the ball is
snapped, he will be covered on his cut across the middle. In this case, give him a precision lead
BEHIND before he makes his cut, so about 1.5-2 seconds after you snap the ball. He should
continue his route towards the sideline without hesitation and run for some extra yards.
Hot route the outside receiver on the left to an out right route, and hot route the inside
receiver to a slant left route. Make a bullet pass with lead towards the sideline and precision up
as the receivers are crossing. The crossing of the receivers causes the defenders to lose their
position on the pass.
Give the primary receiver a bullet lead pass as soon as the outside receiver crosses with him. If
you timed it correctly, the primary receiver should have enough separation on his man for a
decent pick up with room to run.
Gun Tight - Mesh
Another good double drag route that leaves one receiver open. Let them run through the
congestion in the middle of the field and come out open.
This is a good play giving you many options. I always look for both receivers on the corner
routes. Try to give a bullet lead pass off the cut if the defense isn't shading towards the outside
throw. If they're covered, look for either receiver on the out route, at least one will be open for
a quick pass and gain.
There's not too many WR screens in this playbook, but this is the best one. Wait for your
receiver to turn and give him a bullet pass. Either follow your blockers and run straight, or
shoot out to the sidelines and hope your blockers can engage the corners for a big pickup.
In this formation, I throw to the TE 4/5 times. This is a good play against zones. Let your TE run
behind the linebackers and then throw a bullet pass with precision up and watch him jump right
over the defense for the catch.
The route the TE runs has been my favorite for the last few years. It's very effective against
man, and will work against the zone if you time it correctly. Against man, wait for him to make
his final cut towards the middle and send him a bullet lead pass. If zone, do not throw into a
defender. Either wait for the TE to pass a defender and give him a lead pass, or throw it behind
him before he reaches the first defender off the cut.
This final play is deadly against man. More often than not, the TE will be wide open off his cut
some give him a bullet lead pass as he separates from his man. Your other option is to go deep
to the (Square, X) receiver. I like to throw a bullet pass with precision up and away if your
receiver has the advantage in speed and height. Just let the computer jump for the overthrown
ball. Your other option is always just to throw a deep lob pass and try to rocket catch over the
safety if he beats his man.
I like to use this play about once a game in short yardage run situations. The defense usually
commits to the run and you can often find your (X, A) receiver open off his corner route. If he's
covered tight, don't force anything just give your TE on the drag a bullet lead pass for a small
gain.
Sample of Exclusive Playbook Breakdown Play
This is an example of what you will find in the Pittsburgh Offensive exclusive playbook
breakdown
Nanos/Blitzes
Here are my plays I use when I need a sack or heavy pressure.
Spread line.
Pinch LB’s.
Take any two LB’s and move them in front of the center.
Take the other LB and manually cover the TE or whichever receiver is left uncovered.
Take both blitzing defenders and move them straight down between the gaps of the DT and DE.
This will take you a while to get down, you will probably run out of time the first couple of times
you try it, but eventually you will be able to set this up very quickly.
Run Stop
Tip: If you know the run is coming, you can hot route all of your linebackers to blitz by adjusting
LBs and hitting down on the RA stick.
This is the best goal line run stop play. Take control of the safety blitzing and try to make a
quick reaction to wherever the HB runs and stop him if he tries to go up the middle.
Pass Coverage
I like to run the 3-4 in passing situations. This is my favorite man coverage and zone coverage
play respectively.
Press Coverage.
Align Coverage.
User controlled defense is all preference, I like to take which ever player is covering the TE and
try to shut him off.
Align Coverage.
I like to take the safety in the Yellow Zone and shut down the middle of the field.
If you see a player on an outside post to the right side of the field make sure to make him your
priority.
This is a good play when your opponent needs 10+ yards for a 1st down.
Take one of the LBs in the yellow zone and shutdown the HB if he heads towards the flats.
46 - Normal - Double X
Take the LB in the deep zone, drop back, and cover anyone who gets open deep.
I like to pinch the line and crash inside, or vise versa (Spread and crash outside)
Simple, yet effective. Nickel is the best pass coverage formation if you know the offense isn't
running.
This is also a really good coverage play if you do not alter it.
Take one of the LBs in the yellow zone and choose a side of the field to shut down.
This is one of my favorite pass coverage plays. I like to take the LB blitzing and just manually
blitz between the DT and DE. Just hit the right analog left and right to roll off linemen and put
pressure on the QB. The coverage is really good on this play so any pressure is just a bonus.
This is a really good play, but be careful because your safeties are in man so you may get beat
deep.
I like to take the LB or whoever is covering the HB and try to shut him off.
This is a really unique play because every receiver is in man coverage, but you have three
players in zone. Two short, and one deep; it is one of the best plays in the game.
Take one of the linebackers in the yellow zone and do a fake blitz with him. Meaning bring him
down to the line, acting like you are blitzing, the drop back after the ball is snapped. Either shut
down a receiver or stay short to prevent a HB flats pass.
This is one of the best defensive plays this year, and I saved it for last as a bonus for everyone
who read through the whole breakdown. This was my first defensive breakdown, so I hope the
next one will be a lot better. Please email me with some constructive criticism so my next
defensive breakdown can be improved.
A great HB dive play. Try to follow your blocker up the middle and juke towards space as you
cross the line.
Another good run play to the outside. Follow your blocker and make sure not to get outside to
fast or the defender will run right past the blocks. Lay off turbo until your blockers engage, then
burst to space.
The PA passes are my favorite thing about the NE playbook. Remember to run the ball once or
twice every time before calling a PA to maximize its effectiveness. For this play, you can look
deep to your receiver on the streak if he only has one man on him. The primary target will be
the receiver on the left that is cutting across the middle. He will almost always be open towards
the right set of hash marks for a precision lead pass.
This is one of the best PA plays from this playbook. You should look to the outside receiver on
the left again, but also check out the FB in the flats. He is often open for a good chunk of YAC.
This is a good 3rd and short play. Look to the slot receiver on the slant route for a quick pass.
He is often open. I suggest hot routing the inside TE to an inside slant route and firing a bullet
pass over the middle as a secondary if the slot receiver is in press coverage.
This play has gotten me out of countless jams. The slot post route is one of my favorites and
works in both man and zone. For man, roll out to the right and fire a bullet lead pass as your
receiver gains a step on his man off the cut. If the defense is in zone, you will need to time the
pass to weave through the defenders. It is a little bit more difficult, but very possible with a
good read.
HB Screens are by far the most effective plays this year. This is a great one, drop back and
throw to your HB once the D-line men close in on the QB. Stay behind your blockers and break
out to space once your blockers engage.
This is about a 50/50 play. It can be very effective if your blockers do their job, so drop back and
fire a bullet pass as soon as the slot receiver turns and plants his feet. As soon as the catch is
made, roll outside and shoot through the gap formed by the blockers.
This is a good 3rd and medium play. Look to the (X, A) receiver on the route towards the
middle. If the defense is in man, wait for him to get a lead on his man and fire a bullet lead pass.
If the defense is in zone you will need to time a pass, most likely before the receiver makes his
cut towards the defender.
Tip: Hot route the inside receiver to streak. It will cause congestion on the inside cut and might
open up space for your receiver.
Tip: If you want to run behind the bunch set, motion your HB to the right.
A great outside run. The player in motion should cause some confusion with the defense and
may draw their attention to the wrong side. Stay behind your blockers and run to the outside
once they engage the corners.
A great PA play. Hot route the TE to block, you don't need him as an option. Look for the
receiver on the streak, if he is in single coverage fire a bomb deep. The primary target should be
the outside receiver on the left. He should be in the middle of the field about the time he gets
separation and when the PA ends. Fire a bullet lead pass. Rolling out to the right may help.
I like this HB Blast play a lot. You can either run it straight up the middle or bounce it to the
outside and follow the blocker that was sent in motion.
I have always loved the FB dive and this is a pretty effective one. Find a hole and get up field as
fast as possible.
This sweep play isn't nearly as effective as the one featured in the Pittsburgh breakdown, but it
can get the job done and is a good goal line option. Run to the outside as fast as you can and
run to space. If a corner is lined up on the outside of your blockers, motion someone in front of
him or he will tackle you for a loss.
Shotgun:
The shotgun is the heart of the NE playbook and is why it is so popular.
This is the top play from the book. Use the strategy previously mentioned for the slot post
route, or look to the HB on the V Cut which is my favorite route this year. This is one of my
audibles, and if I have any doubt in a play I come out in, I do not hesitate to audible to this play
and fire the ball to the HB for a 6-10 yard pickup.
This is a good play if you need a few yards, or you can look deep by hot routing your HB on a
streak. He will usually be open about 10 yards down the field, but you may need to throw a
hard precision to the outside or inside depending on where the defender is. For the few yard
option, look to the receiver on the motion drag route. He will be leading his man for a bullet
lead pass on the opposite side of the field.
Another really effective HB screen play, this time out of shotgun. Drop back and make the pass
once the D-line break through the line. Fire to the HB and follow your blockers before running
to space.
I never used to like running out of shotgun, but I really like this play. You can either shoot up
the middle if you see a gap, or take it to the outside of the left tackle.
This is a pretty interesting play. Look to the receiver in motion after he cuts back outside for a
precision lead pass toward the sideline. You can also look at the TE on the inside slant route as
the secondary option.
Hot route the HB to a "Slant Left" route. Throw a bullet pass with precision towards the sideline
either as soon as he cuts, or as he gains speed and gets separation on his man. Also look for the
receiver on the motion drag route toward the right side of the field for a safety.
Gun - Nomal Flex Wk - Patriots Spot
The TE will be the receiver you will focus on. You can make a precision right bullet pass as soon
as he cuts outside if the defense is relaxed, or wait for him to cut back inside and give him a
lead pass towards the middle.
I decided to include this play because it can be very effective in some situations, however more
often than not it will not work. When the defense is in man and the safety on the left side
blitzes or is covering someone, the HB will be able to beat his defender on the streak. Roll out
to the right and throw a lob pass with precision toward the sideline and let your HB outrun his
man for the ball. This will not work if a safety is in the area.
This is another play that has the HB V Cut route that is so deadly. That is the only reason I call
this play. Make sure to flip the play every other time it is good to mix up which side of the field
you target.
This is a really good draw play that can catch the defense off guard if you have been passing out
of shotgun all game. Take a second to look for the hole and sprint through the line and towards
space.
This is a good double drag play. One receiver on the drag route will emerge from the middle
open. Usually the receiver that is moving towards the right will have his man behind him
because the left receiver bumps into him.
Man: Hot route both receivers listed above to inside slants. One should be open after they cross
for a bullet lead pass. The other option is to look at the receiver on the left on the deep post
route. If you are comfortable with the jetpacking technique, throw a bullet lead pass with
precision up off of your receiver's cut, switch on to him quickly, and cut off the ball at a sharp
angle performing the jetpacking animation and blocking the defender from the ball.
A solid 3rd/4th and long play. Look to the (X, A) receiver on the inside route. If man coverage,
throw to the receiver as he passes the left set of hash marks with a bullet lead pass. If zone
coverage, you may have to throw much earlier, most likely right as he makes his cut before he
reaches the linebackers. You can also look at the (Triangle, Y) receiver on the streak for a quick
bullet pass with precision inside of the defense if they are in zone and the defender covers the
(X, A) receiver rather than him.
I use the 49ers, so I prefer this formation to the 5WR set because I can throw to Vernon Davis. If
you don't have a solid TE, there is a play very similar listed below. If the defense is in relaxed
coverage, throw a bullet pass with precision right as your TE makes his stutter step. If not, wait
for him to make his cut back towards the middle leaving his man behind. This is a very effective
route that I have had a lot of trouble shutting down because the pass can be made at any time
during the route.
This has been a money play for a very long time. I suggest making this an audible. I like to look
to the right side of the field, so make the pass to the inside receiver on the slant, or you can
look at the inside receiver on the out route if the defense drops back.
A great screen play that goes to your #1. Drop back, and make a quick throw as soon as your
receiver turns and sets. Follow your blockers to the sideline and then sprint towards space.
Gun - 5WR Patriot - Y Iso Whip
This is a good play if you only need a few yards, or you can look deep for the (Triangle, Y)
receiver as he normally just has the safety to beat. For the short gain, the inside receiver on the
stutter out route will be open more often than not for a bullet lead pass towards the sideline.
Refer to the strategy listed above for "Vertical Y Shake" play. Calling this play will use a WR
rather than your TE.
This is a 50/50 play that should be used on 1st down or if you need a big gain. Roll out to the
right and fire a bullet lead pass with precision up to the receiver on the deep post route. Timing
depends on the defense. If the safety is not shading to the outside, you're probably safe waiting
a little for your receiver to get separation. If the safety is waiting for the receiver on the
sideline, throw quickly and cut off the pass manually. This play works extremely well on Cover
1.
For some reason almost every one thinks of goal line as a formation that can only be called
when you are actually on the goal line. Try to break this misconception by calling goal line run
plays anywhere on the field, they are very effective. For this toss play, stay behind your blockers
until they engage then spring towards the sideline and head for space.
This is a really good play to just blast through the middle. Make sure to motion your HB to
whichever side looks like it will open up.
If you've been running out of goal line, the defense may just assume run when you come out in
this formation so make them pay with a play action. Make sure to hot route the FB to block or
you will be sacked if the defense brings the blitz. Roll out to the right and look for either TE on
the outside post routes. One should be ahead of his man for a bullet lead pass.
